Christina and Morcos's love story is one of serendipity and shared dreams. It was the year 2015 when Christina embarked on her medical school journey in Antigua, where Morcos was already there studying. Christina used to save Morcos's spot in the library (purely platonic). What are the odds that 2 people from Toronto would need to go to a Caribbean Island for medical school to meet?
As they navigated through the rigorous paths of medical school and residency together, their bond deepened. Christina continues, “8 years together in medical school and residency doing every step together and supporting one another in our career journey we fell in love and realized we could not spend our lives without each other.”
Their engagement story is equally enchanting. “January 1, 2023, Morcos was excited to start the new year and was awake early, which should have been my first hint,” Christina recalls with a smile. “We went to Barrie to go snow tubing there was a lot of twists and turns. He was quick on his feet. He eventually took me to Innisville, where there was a cute town decorated for the holidays. I walked up to this decorated igloo, where he was waiting and music was playing. And then the rest is history.”
Their wedding was about bringing together the family. The couple wanted their wedding to feel like a reunion of hearts, where each guest wasn’t just a witness but a cherished part of their story. With over 330 guests, the planning took 11 months, but every second spent was a step closer to their dream celebration.
Christina further elaborated on their vision, stating, "My dream wedding was a place where our closest family and friends could gather. We have traveled to many places for school and along the journey we have met so many people that have become like family to us. Having all those people present on our special day meant the world to us.” The style of the wedding was defined as "modern chic," which reflected both their personalities and aesthetic preferences. “The key moment is walking down the aisle and seeing my future husband waiting for me at the altar,” Christina shared passionately.
Their morning was a whirlwind of excitement and exquisite details. The couple selected every piece of their wedding stationery with care, ensuring it matched the modern chic theme they envisioned. The invitations set the stage for the day, reflecting the elegance and warmth they wanted their guests to feel.
Christina found her dream dress at Superior Bridal, designed by Calla Blanche. “The first dress I tried on was the one. However, I tried on 20 more to be sure and went back to that one,” she reminisced about the special moment of choosing her gown.
The getting-ready photoshoot took place at the Marriott Markham, where Christina was surrounded by an air of anticipation and elegance. To her final bridal look, she added a royal veil and an intricately designed headpiece, alongside the iconic Manolo Blahnik shoes, which perfectly complemented her stunning attire.
Her wedding bouquet featured quicksand roses and baby's breath, elegantly assembled by J’adore Floral Boutique, adding a touch of romantic sophistication to her ensemble. The morning was shared with her bridesmaids and parents, creating a warm, supportive atmosphere.
Morcos’s morning was equally momentous. He chose a classic tuxedo that mirrored the elegance of the day. Getting ready at home, surrounded by his groomsmen and parents, made the day start on a note of familiarity and love. This personal setting allowed him to reflect on the journey and the significant step he was about to take.
The first look was profoundly emotional for both. When Morcos saw Christina walking down the aisle, his first thought was how lucky he was. Christina, overwhelmed by the moment, said she was “Speechless.” Seeing Morcos waiting for her, all she could think about was their future together.
For their photoshoot before the ceremony, the couple chose Marriott Markham for its elegance and space. It was important for them to have a moment alone before the ceremony, capturing the excitement and the beauty of the day.
“Our ceremony is full of traditions. Being Coptic Orthodox we have an intricate ceremony with robes and crowns,” Christina stated. “Having my mom and dad both walk me down the aisle. Morcos waiting at the altar for me. Walking out together and having confetti as we walked out as husband and wife,” were the moments the bride will cherish forever.
Choosing Glasshouse Studios for their post-ceremony photoshoot was one of the best decisions. “Having a wedding in November, weather is questionable. Glasshouse Studios is bright and modern,” Christina shared.
Christina was enthusiastic about their venue choice, “Universal is new and beautiful. I love their ambiance and the darkness of the hall allows for the decor to pop.” As for the wedding palette, the couple opted for “Quicksand pink with white.”
Their reception was the highlight, where every detail came together. The first dance to ‘Lifetime’ by Justin Bieber was magical. And the Baklava cheesecake? It was unforgettable!
Working with their vendors was fantastic. “They are all amazing and recommend them to everyone that is getting married,” said the bride.
Each element of Christina and Morcos’s wedding was thoughtfully chosen and deeply meaningful, crafting a day that was not only a celebration of their love but also a beautiful testament to their journey together.
