From Burma to the UK With Love: May & Eddy's Rare Mogok Ruby Wedding at Hedsor House

Love Story

May and Eddy met on a run, not long after Eddy relocated to Yangon for work - an unremarkable first encounter that turned out to matter more than either of them expected. “What started as a casual conversation grew into a decade of marathon and Ironman races, unforgettable trips, and endless memories before we finally tied the knot!” the couple says, and the running theme, quite literally, never really stopped. A decade of endurance races and travel together meant that by the time marriage entered the conversation, it felt less like a leap and more like the next logical mile.
The proposal itself took its time arriving, in more ways than one. Eddy had originally planned to propose back in 2020, sourcing a diamond ring from Mouawad’s New York inventory specifically for the moment. Pandemic lockdowns had other plans: the ring sat stuck in transit for an entire year before it finally reached Myanmar at the end of 2021. May, in the meantime, stumbled across Eddy’s planning messages and accidentally spoiled the surprise early - though that hardly slowed things down once the timing was finally right. In March 2025, Eddy took her on a private cruise down the River Thames aboard a Sunseeker Superhawk 34, the same boat model featured in a Bond film, and officially proposed there, ahead of the wedding later that year.

About Your Wedding

On October 14, 2025, May and Eddy married at Hedsor House in the UK, surrounded by 50 guests after roughly seven to eight months of planning. The destination itself was a deliberate choice - a wedding built in the UK specifically to honor Eddy’s heritage. At the same time, the design and styling leaned the other way entirely, folding May’s Burmese background into nearly every visual decision. “Our concept was timeless elegance with a thoughtful blend of British and Burmese culture,” the couple says of the overall vision.
That blend traced back to a very specific source of inspiration: the legendary “pigeon’s blood” rubies from Mogok, Myanmar. To honor her heritage properly, May worked with designers across Thailand and Myanmar to build both her classic wedding gown and her traditional reception outfit around these rare gemstones, rather than treating them as an accessory added afterward. Choosing the right creative team - photographers, videographers, and content creators capable of capturing raw, unposed moments - turned out to be the hardest decision of the entire planning process, and the couple says it paid off completely once the day arrived.

Morning Details

The morning split across two suites at Hedsor House, each holding a completely different kind of quiet before the ceremony. Two suites at Hedsor House held two very different mornings - one filled with heirloom rubies and her mother’s quiet company, the other already dressed and waiting in Tom Ford just down the hall. May’s wedding bands, created through her own jewelry brand MAHA, were designed with a simple brief in mind: “The vision was simple and life-proof: timeless design built for everyday wear.”
Her jewelry that morning carried real family history. May wore heirloom “pigeon’s blood” Mogok rubies pulled from her mother’s private collection, gathered over two decades from the historic mines of Mogok itself. In total, her bridal jewelry suite added up to 25 carats of rare Burmese rubies - a pair of 10-carat earrings, a statement 10-carat pendant, and a 5-carat ring. Invitations came from Teresa Lim of Paperie Tale in Myanmar, a close friend of the couple, with additional stationery designed by Olive & Millicent.

Bride Getting Ready

May’s wedding wardrobe came together through two entirely separate design journeys, both deeply personal in different ways. The gown itself took shape at Aunchalee Boutique in Bangkok, where May met designer Chrissy and felt an instant connection after countless fittings across London, Yangon, and Bangkok. Over six months and repeated trips between Yangon and Bangkok, the two brought her custom gown to life. Her other looks were built closer to home in Yangon, crafted by her longtime friend Min Khant. “Having designed beautiful couture dresses for me for over ten years, having him craft my traditional Burmese reception outfit, first dance dress, and getting-ready robe was a full-circle moment,” May says of a collaboration a full decade in the making.
She got ready in the Lavinia Suite at Hedsor House, surrounded by her mother, her aunties, and her Maid of Honor. Her final look combined custom bridal jewelry from MAHA, Dior shoes, Jo Malone London fragrance, and a custom veil from Aunchalee Boutique, finished with a classic rose bouquet designed by Seventh Heaven. Her bridesmaids also wore looks from Min Khant, tying the bridal party back to the same design relationship running through the rest of her wardrobe.

Groom Getting Ready

Eddy got ready separately in the Alexander Suite at Hedsor House, surrounded by his groomsmen, dressed in a Tom Ford tuxedo for the day. The mood in the suite stayed calm and unhurried, closer to the quiet focus Eddy usually brings to a race morning than to any typical wedding-day nerves - a decade of marathons and Ironman races will do that. The couple kept to one particular tradition throughout: the groom was not to see the bride the night before the wedding, a rule they held to deliberately as the two suites on opposite ends of the property carried the morning forward independently of one another.

Ceremony

The ceremony took place on the Southern Lawn at Hedsor House, with May walking down the aisle to Pachelbel’s Canon in D. A light morning drizzle had threatened the outdoor setup earlier in the day. Still, the team’s contingency plan meant a quick adjustment rather than a full relocation, letting the ceremony go ahead outdoors exactly as planned. It was a detail the couple later said mattered far more than they’d expected going in - proof that the backup plan is sometimes the plan that actually saves the day.
The moment that stayed with the couple most, though, wasn’t the walk down the aisle - it was the ring exchange itself. The wedding band May had personally designed and crafted at her goldsmith refused to slide onto Eddy’s finger, forcing her to work it into place right there at the altar in front of everyone. “It wouldn’t be a real wedding if everything went completely to plan!” the couple says, looking back on it now with more amusement than anything else.

Photoshoot After The Ceremony

Portraits took place in Hedsor House’s own garden, immediately following the ceremony. Hedsor House’s garden had been waiting all day for its real assignment - not the ceremony itself, but the quiet half-hour just after it. With the ring drama already behind them, the portraits leaned into quieter details instead - May’s ruby jewelry catching the afternoon light, the two of them finally still after a morning spent in separate wings of the house. That timing gave the couple a genuine window to breathe between the emotion of the vows and the start of the reception, using the estate’s own grounds rather than adding a second location to an already full day.

Wedding Venue & Decor

An English country house wasn’t the obvious choice for a Burmese bride and a British groom - until it was the only one that made sense. Hedsor House gave the couple a setting that could hold both halves of their story at once: British architecture and grounds as the backdrop, with Burmese heritage woven through the styling, jewelry, and wardrobe layered on top. The palette stayed soft and considered throughout the day - white, étoupe, and champagne gold accents - a scheme built to let the ruby jewelry and the venue’s character stand out rather than compete with a busier design. Seventh Heaven Events carried that same palette through the reception spaces. At the same time, Cavendish Events handled catering for the day, both working within the same restrained color story rather than introducing anything that pulled focus from the rubies or the architecture itself.

Reception

Two cultures, one dance floor - “Ordinary” by Alex Warren played as May and Eddy had their first dance as a married couple. Their wedding cake came from Le Papillon, closing out a day built deliberately around blending British tradition with Burmese heritage rather than choosing one over the other.
The celebration didn’t stay contained to the 50 guests who attended in person, either. Once shared online, it reached a global audience: over 3.5 million total views across May’s Facebook platform within 60 days, with a single highlight video alone pulling in more than 400,000 views and 8,000 likes - a reach that, in its own way, mirrored exactly what the couple had hoped for from the day itself: two cultures and worlds, coming together seamlessly, for far more people than just the fifty who were there to see it in person.
