They Said They'd Marry in Their 30s - and He Meant It to the Day: Tali & Remy's Wedding at Careyes

Love Story

Tali and Remy grew up together in every sense - building careers, moving around Los Angeles more times than they can count, and making a habit of traveling the world together. “We met when we were just 19… marrying each other felt like the most natural next chapter moving into our 30s,” Tali reflects, and after more than a decade side by side, that’s exactly how it played out.
The proposal came on Tali’s 30th birthday in Cabo. Remy had quietly promised this years earlier and kept to the date. A boat trip meant to be a private surprise almost revealed itself three days early. When they checked into their hotel, balloons and a sign greeted “The LeVines” with congratulations. Tali immediately asked, “So… do you want to ‘drop knee’ now?” Remy replied just as fast: “No, I’m sticking to my plan.” Three days later, alone on the water, he proposed.

About Your Wedding

On May 1, 2026, Tali Brown and Remy LeVine gathered 70 of their closest people in Careyes, Mexico, for a wedding weekend built around one idea: total escape. There were no busy hotels or crowds - only a private stretch of coastline, a few villas, and four days that felt like a once-in-a-lifetime vacation. The couple met at 19 through a mutual friend and, after spending over a decade building a life together in Los Angeles, wanted their wedding to be the most natural next chapter of their ongoing story. Careyes had been the plan for years, even before the engagement. “We fell in love with Careyes years before we were engaged and always knew it would be the place if we ever got married,” Tali says. That certainty shaped every decision that followed.
The aesthetic they chose was an elevated tropical style inspired by Careyes’ colorful architecture and lush, relaxed coastline. This created a practical challenge: guests had to cross a long staircase and a stretch of sand to reach the reception. Stilettos and tuxedo shoes were out. The solution defined the weekend: “barefoot black tie.” The vibe was formal enough for an occasion, but relaxed enough for guests to kick off their shoes and dance until the sand was everywhere.

Morning Details

The morning began exactly the way the rest of the weekend would - unhurried and full of people they loved. Tali and Remy spent the day getting ready at The Iconic Villa, the Sol de Oriente Castle, perched above Careyes with views that stretched over the cliffs and out to the Pacific. Rather than splitting into separate camps, the couple kept the villa doors open to family and friends from the start, spending the early hours by the pool before the day's pace picked up. There was music, laughter drifting between rooms, and no rush toward any particular moment — just the quiet knowledge that everyone they loved most was already there, under one roof, on the morning they’d been waiting years for.

Bride Getting Ready

Tali’s dress was the Charlotte gown by Lee Petra Grebenau, found at NWLA on Montana Ave in Los Angeles. Comfort came first: “I know myself, and I know that if I’m not comfortable, no one is having fun,” she says, and after trying on dresses that felt heavy or restrictive, the Charlotte gown - lightweight, sheer-layered, effortless - was the one she could picture herself wearing from morning to night. “It was the first dress I could truly picture on the sand.” She left the showroom without buying it, but the feeling never faded, and weeks later, she knew it was the one.
Her look came together with Jennifer Behr’s Vianca Tiara, a Lee Petra Grebenau veil, and custom detachable sleeves and a matching choker made from her dress’s fabric and embroidery. She wore diamonds borrowed from her mother and Jennifer Behr’s Tunis earrings with baroque drop pearls. She finished the look with a simple white gold tennis bracelet. For shoes, she chose Jimmy Choo Ciela Slide Sandal in woven raffia, but wore them for barely an hour. She spent most of the day with her feet in the sand, just as planned. Her bouquet was a cascading bunch of calla lilies by Sevilla Studio Floral. The neutral color accentuated the ceremony's natural setting before the reception was filled with a riot of color.

Groom Getting Ready

Remy got ready alongside Tali at the Sol de Oriente Castle, part of the same open, unhurried morning rather than a separate tradition. His tuxedo was a custom NB44 design by Nicolas Bijan - a black shawl-collar tuxedo finished with Bijan’s own personal bow tie - and a full-circle moment for the couple, since Tali had spent years working alongside Bijan and his wife, Roxy, earlier in her design career. For jewelry, Remy chose Cartier’s 1895 Wedding Band in a 2.5mm width - a design built for daily life on the water and on the job, simple and understated.

First Look

The first look took place at the Sol de Oriente Castle on the cliffs of Careyes. The ocean stretched behind them, framing the moment they had waited almost twelve years for. Tali says she tried to take in every second, still processing that this was actually happening after so long together. “Seeing Remy in his tuxedo was surreal,” she says. Underneath the disbelief was excitement for all that was ahead. They knew the beach and ceremony were just down the path at Playa Rosa. For Remy, the feeling was simple: “I’m the luckiest person in the world.”

Photoshoot Before The Ceremony

Before the ceremony, the couple spent their portrait session at the Sol de Oriente Castle. The villa has watched over Careyes for decades. This afternoon, I witnessed two people become one. Perched on the cliffs, the villa is one of Careyes’ most recognizable landmarks. Founder Gian Franco Brignone envisioned it as a sanctuary blending architecture and nature. Bold colors, organic curves, and panoramic ocean views gave the portraits a unique sense of place. Every frame captured the energy that drew them to Careyes.

Ceremony

The ceremony took place on Playa Rosa Beach, tucked into a secluded cove where jungle meets the Pacific. Guests made their way down a winding staircase to a quiet stretch of sand framed by ocean, greenery, cliffside villas, and Playa Rosa’s signature hot-pink palapa bar - a setting Tali describes: “It was exactly what we had envisioned - barefoot, intimate, and surrounded by nature.” Tali walked down the aisle to a violin rendition of “Mystery of Love” by Sufjan Stevens, while Remy entered with the couple’s flower girl and ring bearers to a violin version of “Retrograde” by James Blake. The couple’s four-year-old niece, Lottie, served as flower girl, while Remy’s nephew, Tom, and Tali’s nephew, Barron, took their roles as ring bearers with such seriousness that neither cracked a smile the entire walk. Because the wedding fell on a Friday, the couple also welcomed Shabbat before dinner, lighting candles with Tali’s father, brothers, and Remy’s brother-in-law - a quiet nod to their Jewish heritage woven into the weekend.

Wedding Venue & Decor

Hand-painted illustrations from Ofelia Botella, a London-based artist, tied together every detail of the weekend. She designed the couple’s save-the-dates, invitations, and stationery. These were later turned into custom tablecloths for the reception. The color palette was taken straight from Careyes: ocean blues, jungle greens, vibrant pinks, and sunset oranges. These colors ran through custom linens, matchbooks, a cigar bar, a hot-pink bar and dance floor, illuminated palm trees, hundreds of lanterns on the sand, fire pits by the dance floor, and raffia chandeliers above the reception tables. Long tables of colorful flowers honored the original inspiration: a Mindy Weiss reception with a candlelit table of hot-pink roses. This had anchored Tali’s vision long before the wedding. Looking back, Tali says: “It wasn’t just a venue; it became the backdrop for an entire weekend of memories.”

Couple's Advice

“Hire a local planner who truly knows Careyes. We cannot recommend Mr. & Mrs. Soul enough. Based in Careyes, they specialize in designing and producing a small number of highly personalized celebrations each year, combining creative vision with an unmatched understanding of the destination, its vendors, accommodations, and logistics. We trusted them completely, and we would make the same decision a hundred times over.”

Reception

Dinner centered on a family-style, Mediterranean-inspired menu from The Locals Catering, opening with passed hors d’oeuvres like tuna tartare cones nestled into a cinnamon-sugar “sand” display, followed by a shared spread of fresh sashimi, scallops, mahi mahi, filet mignon, colorful salads, and seasonal vegetables - a menu built entirely around sharing, passing plates, and lingering at the table long after dinner was technically over. Custom cocktails ran through the whole weekend: Tali’s signature hibiscus mezcal margarita, and Remy’s Piña Express, a drink he spent months “researching” with bartenders at his favorite Soho House to get just right for the big day.
As the night went on, the dance floor filled around the sound of a live trumpet and violin, with sparklers, fire pits, and lantern-lit sand carrying the party well into the early hours. Looking back at how it all came together, Tali gives full credit to the team behind it: “Our wedding planners brought every idea to life - and somehow exceeded every vision we had.”
