I started my professional makeup artist career at the age of just 16 years old when I started cosmetology school and working in salons. I started at such a young age because when I began middle school in a new town I was bullied for my dyslexia and found and an outlet in beauty. I admired my mothers beauty and and would watch the way she applied her makeup every morning. The only books I would attempt to read were books about makeup (there was no YouTube or social media at the time). I began doing my own makeup before school and started getting noticed by my peers in a new way, I started getting compliments instead of picked on. The girls in my class began to ask me to do their makeup for school dances in 8th grade and I began making more friends. When I stared high school I heard about a half day program that allowed me to leave high school early and attend cosmetology half day. I begged my parents to allow me to go. I completely fell in love with the beauty industry after working on my first paying client, she started crying when I finished her makeup at the first salon I just started working at. At first I was absolutely mortified because I was not expecting her to cry when she looked in the mirror, but then she turned to me and said she had never felt more beautiful in her life. From that moment on I dedicated my self to not only empowering my self though makeup but also being able to give others that same confidence.
