as important as it is for me to get to know my clients, I also think it’s important for my clients to get to know me to feel comfortable while working together, so here goes:
I’m from a very small town and can appreciate tradition but also am so grateful to travel and have new experiences as often as I can. I’m an enneagram type 4 and a Virgo which means I’m independent, creative, loyal and reliable. I would say that I am a pretty great balance of an adventurous soul as well as a homebody. I will road trip just about anywhere for an epic view or just a quick weekend trip. That being said, I also love a cozy night in- drinking wine and binging hulu.
I love to hike, cook, eat at taco trucks and drink all the margs and beer…You can win me over by telling me I have the cutest dogs ever - cause I do…or by meeting me for margaritas for your consultation appt.

We are so fortunate to have Makena capture the happiest moments of our lives the past 4 years! She captured our emotions on our wedding day in such a natural way…Her pictures are BEAUTIFUL and I am so happy to have them fill the walls of our home. She makes you feel comfortable and carefree while getting the perfect shot! I recommend her to literally everyone!
We met Makena for the first time on our destination elopement. She was kind and flexible with us when our shoot got delayed due to unforeseen circumstances. She is a very gifted photographer with a super sweet personality and made us feel so comfortable. We are so grateful we found her!
We began working with Makena when my husband and I started dating. She captured so many beautiful moments for us leading up to our engagement. When my husband asked me to marry him, the first person I booked for our wedding was her. For us, the most important thing was a photographer, and we wanted Makena to continue capturing our love story. On our wedding day, she captured all the emotions through her pictures and when we look back at our pictures, it makes us feel as if we are reliving every aspect of our wedding. Makena will be our forever photographer!
“Choosing Makena as our wedding photographer was one of the easiest decisions we made for our wedding. Hiring Makena was exactly what we wanted for our wedding photos. I found her on instagram and fell in love with her style, so we met up to talk about my wedding and i fell INLOVE! she is so sweet and funny. As someone who is a tad awkward in front of the camera, it made all the difference! Our wedding got postponed due to covid, and Makena was communicative through every step and willing to work with us on whatever we decided on doing. What went from huge celebration in downtown Modesto in may, to a micro-wedding in August, immediate family only, in our backyard. We ended up doing BEAUTIFUL bridals in the Bay Area and she showed up and showed out! i could not be happier that we have these photos as our keepsake from that time in our lives.
I truly could not be happier with my wedding photos. From the day of, the edits, and the return time, Makena went above and beyond to ensure these pictures captured the best day of my life in a perfect way. I still look back on my pictures and can not believe that they are of my husband and I. We are so lucky to have chosen Makena for our big day!
Makena was fun to work with on our engagement shoot and we received our pictures back pretty quickly. The quality of her work was great!

Makena photographed our elopement in December, she did an amazing job! We seriously couldn’t have asked for better memories from our special day! Not only was she responsive, but super helpful in every aspect of planning since we were traveling to California all the way from Texas. She helped us find the perfect spot & an officiant as well. The pictures had a quick turnaround and we’re still completely obsessed! She went above and beyond for us! Our special day wouldn’t have been the same without her… We highly recommend Makena & definitely plan on booking with her again when we’re in the area!
