Carlie is a true master of her craft! Not only does she provide a stellar finished product, but she makes the process of capturing photos light and enjoyable! I have used Carlie for maternity and family photos over the past few years. She has blown me away every.single.time! After the most recent session, my husband made the following comments that I never thought I'd hear: "I think those are the best photos anyone has ever taken of me" and "I almost want to go take more pictures because they all came out so good" and "Maybe we should do that again sometime soon"! He is the type of person that has zero patience for taking any sort of photos (especially professional photos), so this is incredibly telling of what a wonderful photographer Carlie is! We were also capturing photos of our toddler with Carlie for the first time and I couldn't believe how skilled she was at getting our daughter to look at the camera and smile! She had all kinds of tricks up her sleeve - finger puppets and even bubbles! She was so skilled at getting our toddler to cooperate! I cannot recommend Carlie enough! She is one in a million!
Carlie is truly a talented photographer and anyone who hires her will not be disappointed. My wife and I hired Carlie for our November Santa Cruz wedding. She definitely is one of our favorite vendors and was such a joy to work with.
We loved how professional she was and how she always responded to our questions quickly and clearly. When we hired her we knew that we didn't have to worry about telling her what to do on our big day. She brought her husband, Gabe, to help her during our wedding and they were both such a lovely duo to work with. Their easy going, calm, and fun loving personalities really helped us get through the last minute changes, especially when it started raining 10 minutes before our ceremony.

Carlie has so much energy, professionalism, talent and sweetness. She was everywhere for our Wedding Weekend. The was able to herd many moving parts and a large wedding party. I know the pictures are going to be breathtaking.
As a professional photographer myself, our wedding photography was one of the first tasks I took care of in our wedding planning, and I was completely impressed with Carlie at every step of the process. Her photography is technically and artistically outstanding, showing a very keen eye for clean composition and tight color palettes, and she was able to cater her shooting to a nice range of styles and environments. She also offered very flexible packages and delivery options, all at very reasonable prices for the superb quality of work - we never felt pressure to order more than we wanted or needed. Carlie handled the wedding day very professionally, and was a warm and subtle addition to our event. Highly recommended!
I've been meaning to write reviews for my amazing vendors for my wedding this past summer because I loved every single one, especially Carlie. She was the perfect photographer for my husband and I and she gave us incredible photos for our engagement and our wedding day. She is so much fun and made us feel comfortable when we aren't ones to pose for photos often. She was creative in her posing, and shots and had a fantastic eye for stunning photos. She handled our bridal party and families (both can be a handful) with ease and made us all laugh in the process. One of my favorite things she did was capture a photo of the entire wedding (guests included) right after the ceremony from a hilltop with all of us cheering. It is my favorite photo of our wedding and so much fun to see all of our guests.
Carlie and her husband worked so hard on our wedding day and provided us with amazing photos we can't stop looking at. We haven't even picked our album yet (we got married in June) because we love all of the photos so much we can't narrow it down! I can't begin to express what a real pleasure it was to have Carlie and Gabe document our wedding in August on the peninsula. She was wonderfully responsive via email and since our package included engagement photos, was super helpful in guiding us through all we needed to think about to prepare (what to wear, locations, makeup recommendations, etc).
Even more than our wedding planner, we spent the most time with our photographers on our wedding day. Carlie and Gabe are both fun, awesome people who immediately put everyone at ease and truly captured the joy of the day. They felt like great friends that we'd known forever, and we loved having them along to document every moment of the day.
Not only that, Carlie and Gabe went above and beyond in a few different ways that meant so much to us. First, I was surprised to learn that they arrived at our venue well before their "scheduled" start time to scout locations for different shots and to capture some photos of the venue before anyone else was around. Carlie also consistently shared more photos with us than we were expecting to see, which was such an awesome treat. Not only that, while the digital photos took a little longer to be ready for us to view, she prepared some sneak peeks and film photos that were ready much more quickly. It was so special to get to see and share a few professional photos within days of our wedding!
All in all, Carlie and Gabe delivered all we could have asked for and more. They're the best :) Thank you!!

Your search for an amazing photographer has ended. Carlie did our wedding and she did a stellar job. From the moment we met her we knew we were going to work well with her. She is very professional and at the same time very down to earth, friendly and easy to work with. Her prices are reasonable and more than fair considering the finished product. When it came to the wedding day she had an extra shooter which was key. She has a background in photo journalism which is exactly what we were looking for. We loved the candid shots that she captured and the artistic shots of the wedding, much better than the typical posed pictures (although she did those for us as well). I can't say enough good things about Carlie and her work. I highly, highly recommend using her for any professional photography work, you WILL NOT be disappointed!!!
With so many vendors to hire for our wedding, it was a huge relief to find someone like Carlie, it took so much headache out of our search. She came recommended from a good friend of mine who told me the same things I mention above about Carlie, and she was absolutely right, she's the best.

Carlie and Gabe are amazing people. We were so lucky (and happy!) to have them document our elopement.
Experience: they're responsive and easy-going from start to finish. They're open to negotiating wedding package wants, exploring new places, and exchanging ideas. There are not enough words to describe their work product and how they were able to capture the beauty of the day, happiness, us at ease. We received sneak peeks within days of elopement, images to download within weeks, and are now waiting for the album to arrive.
Photographers: you pay a little extra for the two of them (worth the investment!). They're genuine, generous, lovely people. Gabe drove the four of us around for hours, so we got to know them well. No awkwardness; lots of laughs :) We stopped at approx nine locations (incredible memories and photos!).

Amazing photographer! We hired Carlie and her husband Gabe for our wedding on 9/9/17 at Holman Ranch and working with them was an absolute dream. Her energy is a great blend between chill and pepping you up/making you feel beautiful/confident on your big day! I was having a bit of pre-wedding jitters and working with Carlie one on one while getting ready really put me at ease. She was the only vendor that came over to me not asking 18,000 questions and creating more anxiety for me. She came in with a bright smile and knew exactly what to do and exactly where to go. I know she has done a ton of work at Holman Ranch before and I think that is absolutely crucial because she knows all the right shots to take and we are so in love with every single photo we've received from her! We originally picked her because she was on Holman Ranch's recommended list and while looking online at her photos - a lot of the images seemed to be full of lots of light and dreamy images, which is exactly the aesthetic I was going for. Gabe was also super sweet - he mostly worked with my husband earlier in the day with all the guys - while Carlie was with us girls. They have such a great aura together - professional, sweet, and you can tell they are very happily married which was really lovely to see on our big day - they are total future husband and wife goals! Loved them and 100% recommend.
Carlie was the best decision that we made by far for our wedding and it's not just about her incredible photographs - her and Gabe truly added to the joy of the day. Her relaxed and bright energy is contagious and she has that magical ability to put people at ease (which was great for those not used to having so many pictures taken of them but also just generally on what can sometimes be a stressful day). It's so clear that she loves what she does and it's really incredible - she will do anything for that perfect shot and she'll do it with a smile on her face! I am honestly inspired to see someone who is so passionate about what they do and so talented. Our pictures are amazing and not only did our families and bridal party talk about how much fun it was to have Carlie and Gabe on our wedding day, but they couldn't stop gushing about our photos. They are both masterful task masters as well - making sure to get through our robust shot list and get all the photos we wanted (sunset, dancing etc.) without making it seem like this big thing we're all waiting around for or a chore. When Carlie and Gabe shot our post-ceremony and sunset photos, they really made it feel like we were having a quite few minutes to ourselves, which were some of my favorite moments of the day (and we have gorgeous photos to remember it by too). They felt like great friends by the end of the whole process. I am so grateful that we found Carlie.
