170 On most weekends you can find Robert ('Bobby') photographing weddings—either in New York (where he lives) or farther a field: in various locations around the US and abroad. Bobby finds wedding ceremonies to be more than just a series of actions, people, and images to be “captured,” but rather recognizes them as events full of deep personal and cultural significance, particular to a specific time and place and community. As such, he assumes the responsibility of documenting these moments with great respect, believing them to be deserving of a discerning eye and an artistic hand. In this way, he hopes to help each couple honor the beauty not only of age-old traditions, but also the distinctive and meaningful celebrations fashioned by those couples. Bobby enjoys getting to know each one of his clients through the places, symbols, rituals, and yes—food-- that are unique to their tradition and infuses those elements into the story he tells through pictures.
