When I was young, I sought to take photos of things that made sense to me. My photos often were creative but lacked authenticity and emotion. As I grew older and became a mother, I started to think of a photograph differently. I stopped telling my kids to “say cheese” and started telling them “it’s ok, you can keep playing." I hated that they were so programmed to show off their big smiles every time I pulled my camera out. It felt inauthentic. I started to shift things. When you photograph authentic moments between people it allows you to look back at photos with a different view. It can take you back to that moment.
