I started photographing weddings in 2003 and eventually left my day job as a graphic designer to do photography full-time. In addition to photos, I create a few animated gifs from every session. My style is influenced by design principles, architecture, Edward Hopper paintings, plus films by Stanley Kubrick, Denis Villeneuve, and Wes Anderson. I try to put as much attention into the scene as the subjects. I prefer to cover events solo and do my own editing, posting teasers the next day. I’m based in the Detroit area but cover weddings all over America. I'm LGBT friendly.

Things got even better once we met in person for a pre-wedding/engagement shoot. We were so nervous about taking professional photographs, but JLB made us feel instantly comfortable. Within minutes, we were having so much fun running around town, listening to JLB's instructions, and taking museum-worthy photos.
Fast-forward to the wedding, and his approach was no different: he captured all of the right moments in picture-perfect fashion, all while being super organized and super friendly.
We can't wait to look back at these photos again and again in the years to come. We can't recommend JLB enough!
He really cares about his art and his effort showed. We've received nothing but glowing complements about our wedding photos - Jeffrey goes above and beyond to find unique shots. The gifs were fun and his custom color processing was great, too; it let us choose which mood we liked best for each photo.
Working with Jeffrey was the best decision we made when planning our wedding. He literally helped me bustle my dress, you guys. Our photos are ancestor worthy, and that was the goal. One day our great grandchildren will be able to look at these photos and have a precise understanding of what our day FELT like. Our family and friends were immediately put at ease and he captured the most perfect pictures of our dear ones. They loved him, too.
A friend of ours is a photographer, and said that they learned as much as taking a master class just by watching him work throughout the day. He was everywhere and also a fly on the wall. My very shy wife felt completely comfortable working with him and now I have the best pictures of her that I will treasure for the rest of my life.
The logistics of working with JLB are made so simple, and making plans with Jeffrey is so easy. Truly, our photography ended up being the easiest part of planning and we were able to just enjoy our day without worrying about getting this or that shot. He had it in the bag. Our day was joy-filled and easygoing, and Jeffrey was a big part of that. We look forward to working with him again throughout the milestones of our lives, and are so grateful that our paths crossed.
He did our engagement photo shoot in November in Ann Arbor, and most recently our wedding in June in Puerto Rico. We are beyond grateful for the beautiful memories he has given us.
If you are looking for a wedding photographer who will deliver extraordinary, lifelong memories, look no further!
I appreciated his professionalism, but also that he kept the vibes at a 10/10! Our engagement photos were quite cold in Ann Arbor and sweaty, hot and humid in Puerto Rico, but you would never know it because his positive attitude and enthusiasm is seriously infectious! Even our friends and family were raving about him during and after our wedding.
His background in graphic design make his photographs stand above all the rest. He has such a keen and sharp eye for making the shot perfect!
Seriously, hire this man. You'll be so happy you did!
