Grab your popcorn and tissues! This love story is the kind that gives you all the feels. “We actually met in grade school. We were in the same class in grade 2 and we were good friends!” But like any great movie plot, there was a twist. “We lost touch in high school, and then bumped into each other at Osheaga in 2017.” An unexpected reunion that changed everything. “We stayed in touch as friends until eventually, we crossed over to more than friends and never looked back!”
And, if you think that’s heartwarming, the proposal story is pure gold. “William proposed in Positano, Italy. It was perfect!” Caroline recalled, still a bit in disbelief. “He hired a photographer to capture the moment as well. I was not expecting it at all. I knew he wanted to propose, but we had only been in a relationship for a little over a year at that point. Our relationship escalated quickly... we bought a house together, got a dog... but I really didn't think he would do it so soon or there!!”
Caroline and William envisioned their dream wedding to be timeless, classy, and grand. Drawing inspiration primarily from Pinterest and even TikTok, they stayed true to a timeless concept that radiated elegance. The couple's meticulous planning and attention to detail ensured every aspect of their special day exuded sophistication.
So, about the invitations? Caroline said, “I did!” She really took the reins on that one. As for those shiny symbols of eternal love – the wedding rings? “Will's jewellers,” was the chosen spot. And here's a sweet touch for you – the bride wore something truly close to the heart. “I wore William's mom's necklace,” she shared.
Every bride has her moment, and this was Caroline’s. On her dress, she mentioned that Leanne Marshall was the designer, and it’s a funny story about how she ended up with it.
“I went dress shopping in Boston with 3 of my girlfriends and my sister-in-law. This was the last store we were doing and we were all ready to go home... So we got there and she told me I was trying 5 gowns and interestingly, there was one where the designer was retiring and that day (May 15th, 2022) was the last day we could order her designs... I tried it on and the girls freaked out! I wasn't sure... but tried it again and I loved it... and loved that no one would have the same dress as me! So I got it!” Talk about being at the right place at the right time!
Everything came together at the Sonder Apartment, where Caroline prepped for the big day surrounded by family and friends. And those final touches? “I got a veil from Etsy, my shoes were loeffler randall, and wore earrings Will got me... for my second look I changed into sneakers (I still wore a long dress so you couldn't really tell!) and Will's mother's necklace.”
Now, for the other star of the show. “Suitsupply,” was the brand of choice for William. His getting ready shots were snapped at Caroline’s brother's place in the old port, with the most important men in his life by his side.
The main event took place at the St-James Theatre. Caroline walked down the aisle to the melodic strains of “Invisible Strings” by Taylor Swift, played by a string trio.
Their first look was straight out of a fairy tale. “Down the aisle during the ceremony,” Caroline recalled. And the groom? “He was very emotional, crying and smiling at the same time.” As for the bride? “I was smiling, I was very excited.”
Their two nieces, light up the aisle as flower girls, with one being William's cousin's daughter and the other being the daughter of Caroline’s close friend. Right behind them, making sure those rings were safe and sound, was their ever-so-proud nephew Charles, taking on the role of ring bearer.
And the cherry on top of this already beautiful moment? The vows, of course. That’s the memory they’ll hold close, forever and always.
Being quite the efficient couple, they said, “We did all of our pictures at the St-James - we had a pretty tight schedule! And the venue is so stunning!”
For their wedding palette, Caroline and William went for “white, neutrals, and gold.” Pure class! The bride also mentioned, “My phone case was personalized,” when asked about any personalized items.
Amidst all the dancing, laughing, and celebrating, there was one moment that stood out. “When our guests came in from the cocktail to the main room, Will and I were standing on the balcony, waving to our guests! We felt like a royal couple! It was very special.”
Caroline and William kicked off their married life with a dance to “Speak Too Soon” by Wild Rivers and sipped on those delightful Espresso Martinis.
