“I started Amy Abbott Events almost 15 years ago after moving to Los Cabos and realizing there was a space for someone who could bridge cultures, speak the language, and truly guide couples through the experience of planning a destination wedding.”

Amy Abbott Events story isn’t one of a typical planner who studied events from the start. “My background isn’t the traditional ‘I went to school for event planning’ story; it was born from being resourceful, resilient, and saying yes to helping people celebrate.”

“That first wedding was modest compared to the multi-day events we produce today, but it inspired me,” she recalls. “I saw how much impact thoughtful planning, honest communication, and a calm presence could have on a couple’s experience. What inspired me then is what still inspires me now: the ability to create not just a beautiful event, but a sense of trust and joy for families who have invited me to be a part of one of the most important days of their lives.”

Two Decades of Experience and Heart

With 20 years of experience, Amy has witnessed the wedding industry evolve dramatically. Yet her favorite part of it all remains unchanged.

“What I love most about wedding planning is the privilege of bringing people together in a way that feels effortless for them but layered and thoughtful behind the scenes,” she says. “For me, it is about curating an experience where families can be fully present, knowing every detail has been cared for.”

The Philosophy Behind Every Event

At Amy Abbott Events, our philosophy is rooted in honesty, creativity, and connection. We believe every wedding should feel like a reflection of the couple, not a copy of something they have seen before.

Amy and her team specialize in destination weddings where celebrations span multiple days and settings. “We love planning destination weddings where families and friends gather for several days of celebration, because it gives us the chance to create layered experiences that go beyond one evening,” she shares. “The weddings we enjoy most are those where we can weave personal details into the design, curate incredible food and entertainment, and manage all of the logistics so our couples can truly relax and enjoy.”

A Fully Customized Approach

“Every event we produce is curated for our clients, with services that cover planning, design, logistics, and on-site coordination,” Amy explains. “We do not offer preset packages because each celebration deserves a plan that reflects the couple’s priorities. We work closely with our clients to create a custom scope that can include welcome events, rehearsal dinners, guest experiences, décor, and vendor management.”

The Most Memorable Weddings

When asked about the most memorable weddings she has ever planned, Amy’s answer is deeply personal.

“The most memorable weddings I have ever planned were my daughters’ weddings, because I had the rare gift of letting my team take over the reins and allowing myself to simply enjoy the process. Experiencing it as a mother instead of the planner was so exciting, and those celebrations will always stand out as two of the best days of my life.”

Collaboration and Dedication

“We work together as a team and always keep our clients’ best interests at heart, listening carefully and being receptive to changes along the way,” Amy says. “Above all, we will walk through fire for our clients. That unwavering dedication is what earns their trust and ensures the outcome feels exactly as they envisioned.”

Transparency, she adds, is the foundation of their process. “We help couples stay on budget by being transparent from the beginning and making sure there is a clear understanding of the budget ahead of the planning.”

Around the World with Amy Abbott Events

Amy Abbott Events is known for its global reach and signature style. “We are global travelers and will go anywhere our clients take us, from the beaches of Mexico and the vibrancy of Mexico City to the charm of Colombia and the romance of Italy,” Amy shares.

While we have deep roots in Los Cabos and Punta Mita, our focus is always on creating unforgettable events wherever our couples choose to celebrate.

Her dream location? “Cartagena, Colombia is one of my favorite destinations because it offers so many stunning options for weddings, from historic plazas to charming courtyards and seaside settings. The best part is that your budget often goes a little further there, allowing couples to create an unforgettable experience with incredible value.”

Wisdom from Years of Experience

Amy reflects thoughtfully on the biggest challenges of her career. “One of the biggest challenges is navigating unexpected circumstances like weather, travel delays, or last-minute changes that are out of anyone’s control. Our role is to stay calm, adapt quickly, and make sure the couple and their families never feel the stress behind the scenes.”

Her advice to couples? “Start by having honest conversations about budget, priorities, and the experience you want to create. Most importantly, do not lose sight of each other, as love should always be the driving force behind every detail.”

To her younger self, she would say:

I would remind myself to trust the process and stay confident in my instincts, even when the path feels uncertain. Building strong relationships and leading with integrity will always be the foundation for long-term success.

A Legacy of Connection and Joy

From modest beginnings in Los Cabos to extraordinary celebrations across the world, Amy Abbott Events continues to set the standard for destination wedding excellence.

“For me,” Amy concludes, “it has always been about the ability to create not just beautiful events, but spaces filled with trust, joy, and connection. That’s what truly lasts long after the music fades.”
