With a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts and a background in graphic design, Melannie's approach to photography is deeply rooted in artistic sensibility. "I studied graphic design in college, which deepened my appreciation for the arts," she explains. This formal training, combined with 11 years in the wedding industry, has honed her skills into a formidable talent.

Melannie's photography style is a reflection of her artistic vision and her desire to create lasting memories. "My aim is for my clients to cherish their photos not only now but also decades into the future, where they remain relevant and contemporary," she states. "I have a deep appreciation for real, raw and candid moments over staged ones, as they authentically capture the emotions and essence of the moment."

This commitment to authenticity is at the core of her work. "My approach blends editorial and artistic elements to create images that are both visually striking and deeply meaningful," Melannie adds. "I believe in documenting stories with honesty and sensitivity, ensuring that every photograph reflects the genuine emotions and connections of those I photograph."

Melannie's Equipment

Melannie's technical prowess is evident in her choice of equipment. "I use the Canon R5," she shares. "My favorite lenses are the 50mm 1.2/f and the 85mm 1/2/f." But it's not all cutting-edge digital technology. Melannie has a soft spot for the classics: "I also use a 35mm film camera. I love the nostalgia of film." This blend of modern and traditional techniques allows her to create a unique visual style that's both timeless and contemporary.

In an age of heavy filters and dramatic edits, Melannie takes a more subtle approach. "I like to keep my images true to color," she explains. "I have custom made presets I use for all my weddings and sessions, so my style and images are consistent."

For Melannie, photography is more than just a job—it's a passion and a privilege. "What I enjoy most about being a photographer is the opportunity to capture moments that will last a lifetime, well beyond the wedding day," she enthuses. "It’s incredibly rewarding to freeze those fleeting emotions and experiences in time. Seeing the joy and excitement on my clients’ faces when they first view their images is truly priceless. It’s a privilege to document their unique stories and create lasting memories that they can cherish for years to come."

Melannie's success isn't just about her technical skills—it's about her ability to connect with her clients. "I approach working with clients by prioritizing the relationship we build together," she explains. "I take the time to get to know them, as understanding their personalities and preferences is key to capturing their unique story. I believe that open communication is essential, so I engage in discussions about their vision and desires for the day."

She believes in collaboration and clear communication: "Together, we create a vision board of images, which helps align our ideas and sets clear expectations. This collaborative process not only helps me understand their style but also fosters a sense of trust, making our time together on the wedding day more comfortable and enjoyable."

Melannie's passion for photography is matched only by her love for travel. When asked about destination weddings, her response is enthusiastic: "Absolutely yes! My favorite destinations have been Spain and Italy." These international experiences have broadened her perspective and enriched her work. "My passion for traveling allows me to explore new cultures and places, fueling my creativity and broadening my perspective," she shares.

Words of Wisdom

With years of experience under her belt, Melannie offers valuable advice to couples preparing for their big day: "My advice is to remember that it’s just one day, and it goes by extraordinarily fast. While it’s easy to get caught up in the small details, the most important thing is to celebrate your love. Embrace every moment and savor the emotions you’re feeling. It’s truly special to have everyone you love gathered to celebrate you as a couple. Focus on enjoying the day, the joy and connection will shine through in your photos!"

In a world of cookie-cutter wedding albums, Melannie Morfa stands out as a purveyor of visual poetry. She doesn't just capture weddings – she bottles lightning, preserving the electricity of love for generations to come. With her unique blend of artistic vision, technical skill, and genuine passion for storytelling, Melannie transforms ordinary moments into extraordinary memories.
