Venezuela has very diverse landscapes. On the northern coast you have Margarita Island facing the Caribbean. Los Roques is a national park of coral atolls and white-sand cays with very clear water. In the interior you have Angel Falls, which drops 979m from the Auyán-tepui plateau in Canaima National Park (a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1994). Caracas is in a narrow valley at about 900m above sea level with a mountain behind it. To the west, around Lake Maracaibo, the sky is famous for its persistent thunderstorms, the Catatumbo lightning.
For couples, this variety means the setting comes first, and the planner comes second. The five planners on this list work in different parts of this map. Caro Odreman is based on Margarita Island, Johanna Pulgar works in Caracas and on Margarita, Rafael Alvarado in Maracaibo and Miami, and Beverly Hills in Caracas. Their venues range from Ikin Hotel and Spa on Margarita to Quinta Esmeralda in Caracas, Hotel Tibisay in Maracaibo and the historic Alfred I. duPont Building in Downtown Miami.
Two of them have a quiet pride in Venezuelan talent. Rafael Alvarado says: "I truly believe Venezuela has an extraordinary level of talent, and it is always a pleasure to see their work recognized internationally."
The planners differ in how they work. One is comfortable with about 40 weddings a year, one keeps to a maximum of three a month, and one has never counted. Some plan a wedding from the first idea, others step in only on the day, and one advises couples who prefer to plan on their own. Here is how they describe their work.

Caro Odreman Gerencia de Eventos y Bodas
Caro Odreman Gerencia de Eventos y Bodas is based in Pampatar, on Margarita Island, and she has been planning weddings for 10 years. The path began in a hotel: "I worked as a banquet manager at a renowned hotel on Margarita Island, which enabled me to establish strong partnerships and eventually launch my own business." The first church wedding settled it: "I can still picture the groom's expression the moment the doors opened and he caught sight of his bride-to-be. That was the precise moment I knew that being a wedding planner was my true calling."
The philosophy puts the couple first. "Our couples are the true VIPs of the event. Our mission is to keep them happy and completely worry-free on their big day." The studio offers full wedding planning, and "All of our weddings are completely tailored to each couple." She is most excited by weddings "where the bride and groom imprint their own personality on the day."
Margarita Island is also the dream venue: "To me, Margarita Island is the ultimate dream destination, and I love creating weddings here." The studio is comfortable with 40 weddings a year and most often works at Ikin Hotel and Spa, H2otel, Maloka Hotel, and Hotel Isabel La Catolica. The advice to couples is short: "Don't get caught up in trends; your wedding should always match your unique personality." And her advice to her younger self: "There is a solution for everything."
Jpnovias
Johanna Pulgar leads Jpnovias, which operates in Caracas and on Margarita Island, and she has been a wedding and event planner for 15 years. The start was in corporate events: "I began my career working in corporate events, handling protocol and translation; I have always had a natural inclination toward service and a genuine concern for the well-being of others." Weddings came after a very personal test: "Twenty years ago, I organized both my own wedding and my sister's in a very short timeframe, just fifteen days, which sparked my interest in pursuing a career in this field."
The early years took patience. "Starting wasn't easy; at first I had to create a demand among a public unaccustomed to having someone else in charge of every detail." In that first year, she began specializing in destination weddings for couples who don't live where they choose to marry. The mission is local pride: "To prove that there's talent in our country and that we have top-tier suppliers."
Two plans are on offer. The first is a complete, ground-up plan called the "Engagement Ring Plan." The second is "Fairy Godmother," for couples who've already hired everything and want a team to run the day and follow up with suppliers. She started with three to five weddings a month, and now says: "I feel comfortable doing a maximum of three weddings per month." The biggest challenge is privacy: "To do weddings for artists, actors and singers is always a challenge. I have to work under strict confidentiality and be very thorough with each contract." The dream venue is Lake Como, and the advice to couples is: "Enjoy that day to the fullest. If anything happens, laugh and let it flow. That's why you hire a wedding planner!"
Rafa Alvarado
Rafael Alvarado, who goes by Rafael Alvarado, has worked in weddings and events for 16 years. He lists Maracaibo as his city, is based in both Miami and Venezuela, and specializes in destination weddings. It began by surprise: "My journey into wedding planning began quite unexpectedly, when a bride asked me to help her organize a destination wedding in Aruba." The first wedding was a full weekend: "We created an entire weekend of celebrations, including a beautiful welcome party right on the beach."
His philosophy is about the whole experience. "Our philosophy is simple: every wedding should be as unique as the couple behind it." He adds, "True luxury is not only about what you see, but also about how you feel and what you remember long after the celebration is over." His services are flexible, from full-service planning to wedding-day coordination, and he doesn't count his weddings: "It has always been about quality rather than quantity."
The most memorable wedding was his brother's. "Planning his wedding while also representing our parents, who are no longer with us, was both an emotional challenge and an incredible honor." In Venezuela, he knows Quinta Esmeralda in Caracas and Hotel Tibisay in Maracaibo well, and in Miami, the Alfred I. duPont Building. On the job, the key is "to remain calm, anticipate challenges, and always have a solution in mind." His dream destination is Florence: "Having recently worked there, I can say it is an extraordinary destination for weddings." And his advice to couples is to "be present, embrace every emotion, and enjoy every single moment. It goes by faster than you can imagine."

NS Bodas
NS Bodas is Norianna Salazar's wedding and event planning brand. It presents its work as four services, described in Spanish in its Instagram highlights. The quotes below are our translations.
The first is Design & Planning, "from start to finish." It covers vendor selection ("we select the elite team that best fits your style and budget"), budget control ("we manage each investment strategically to maximize results with no surprises"), and a constant presence "from the first meeting to the last dance." The second is Wedding Day Care, for couples who already have everything ready: "We take charge on the wedding day." The team builds a minute-by-minute schedule, coordinates the setup with vendors, and handles surprises: "We are the filter that solves any unexpected problem invisibly, so that you never find out."
The third is Wedding Identity, the creative concept: "We translate your story and personality into a common thread that connects every element of the event." It extends to the "look and feel," from the invitations to the photo set design. The fourth is Bridal Guidance, which it calls "strategic advice for couples who plan on their own," offering sessions to address doubts, optimize the budget, or find vendors. Its own summary is simple: "Your compass in the world of weddings."
The first decision is how much of the day you're prepared to hand over. That answer varies enormously across this list. Caro Odreman and Johanna Pulgar plan the whole thing from the outset. Rafael Alvarado does both the full planning and the day-of coordination. Johanna's "Fairy Godmother" and NS Bodas's Wedding Day Care take over once the main bookings have been made. NS Bodas also provides advice to couples who are planning it all themselves. Before you get in touch with anyone, work out what you actually need, because the right planner for a full wedding isn't necessarily the right planner for a day-of team.
The second decision is where. Margarita Island offers an island setting, Caracas is a city with a mountain in the background and Maracaibo is a city by a lake. Ask each of the planners which locations they're most familiar with and listen to the specifics. Johanna Pulgar is a destination wedding specialist, and Rafael Alvarado also works in Miami and has done weddings in Aruba and Florence (which is useful if your guests or vendors come from several countries). Find out about travel days, local vendors and the weather plan.
Then ask the practical questions. How many weddings do they actually do? Who's on site? What's in the package and what's not? Who do you call when something goes wrong (because that's when it really matters)? As Rafael says, the whole thing is about staying calm and having a solution in mind. You need to meet two or three teams and go with the one that gives you calm, clear and specific answers.
