Quiet Luxury with a New England Point of View

The Litchfield Inn already had a story before anyone arrived to tell one. Classic New England character, a wooded landscape, and a reputation as a wedding destination that carries its own quiet elegance. What The Dearest Still and Sarah Brehant Events brought to it wasn't a transformation. It was a conversation.
Rich color, layered texture, organic florals, beautiful materials, and unexpected details — nothing here felt overly polished or predictable. There was elegance, but it had personality.
"As a photographer, I loved watching the weather change throughout the day. When those dark clouds came in and the rain started pouring, everything suddenly felt more dimensional. The storm didn't take away from the design - it made the colors, textures, and atmosphere stand out even more."

The Tent as Architecture
The clear-roofed tent by Greenwich Tent Co became almost its own architectural environment. You could see the trees and wooded landscape beyond it at all times, while the interior was completely remade through florals, textiles, lighting, and furniture. That tension between the controlled interior and the natural world just outside it gave the editorial its visual depth.
Inside, woven chandeliers hung from the transparent ceiling. Olive green and light blue velvet seats sat framed by black chair backs along a long dining table. Layered glassware, candles, patterned tabletop details by Holly Winnie Co and Kate's Calligraphy, and rich floral arrangements by Ephemirus brought a warm, sophisticated depth to the space. And then there were the artichokes, eggplants, and other organic botanical details worked into the tablescape, details that made it feel collected rather than overly arranged.
Where Formality Met Something Wilder
Outside, the ceremony space was set against the landscape with burgundy velvet draping by Shindig Lighting as its backdrop. The florals had a gathered, almost wild quality - deep greens and textural botanicals spilling outward from the velvet in every direction rather than sitting neatly within it. Blue velvet ceremony chairs sat in the garden. The whole setting felt like something between a formal celebration and a living garden.
The Weather Added What Nobody Could Style
The forecast had called for storms. And they came.
What could have disrupted the editorial instead became its most memorable element. Sarah Brehant Events and the team adapted naturally, continuing to work as the sky darkened and the rain came down. From behind the camera, The Dearest Still watched the colors of the burgundy velvet, olive greens, saturated florals, and warm lighting become deeper and more dimensional against the dark sky. The couples moved through it, laughing, one of them holding a transparent umbrella outside the inn, and those unscripted moments carried more feeling than anything that could have been planned.
The intention behind every image was to make the viewer feel as though they could step into the celebration rather than simply look at a collection of pretty details.
Beautiful things can be planned. Atmosphere can't always be.
Volume Against Velvet
The bridal gowns by New White Bridal and House of Renhue, sourced through Everthine Bridal, were chosen to complement, not compete with, the expressive design around them. The sculptural volume of the skirts stood out especially against the darker interiors and deep textiles. The grooms' classic black tuxedos provided a strong visual anchor, timelessness against the unexpected.
Hair by Beauty by Mineko and makeup by Latoya Santos Beauty kept the looks elegant and intentional throughout.
One Visual Language, Down to the Paper
Stationery and invitations by Holly Winnie Co and day-of signage by Kate's Calligraphy carried the editorial's design language into every paper detail. Rentals by Party Rental Ltd, High Style Rentals, and Honest Event Rentals furnished the spaces.
Primary photography by Redfield Photo and BTS coverage by Dryden and Emily captured the day from multiple perspectives, with BTS film photography by Gypsy Lemon and content by Caroline Carleton Socials completing the picture.
