6 years My name is Kai Umeda, and together with my sister, I run KAI’A Photography in Kobe, Japan. Since 2019, we’ve specialized in pre-wedding photography, offering not only imagery but also styling, coordination, and editorial direction. The name KAI’A comes fr om our siblings’ names and our Hawaiian roots, wh ere kai means ‘sea’ and ‘life.’ Our work blends Japanese tradition with modern, international aesthetics, creating photography that feels cinematic, natural, and deeply personal. From chapels in Tokyo to the streets of Kobe and islands like Naoshima and Awaji, we focus on capturing authentic moments with a balance of documentary honesty and editorial artistry—memories that feel alive every time you return to them.
