Fazenda Querência

Querência Farm has 73 years of a beautiful story of love and inspiration.  Unlike most farms, Querência never had slaves. João and Maria Dezonne Pacheco Fernandes bought the land in 1947 from Italian immigrants as a refuge from their busy lives in the capital of São Paulo.  Over the generations, the farm produced sugarcane, coffee, cattle, horses, chickens, hundreds of hardwood trees, fruit trees and flowers. On this fertile soil, Maria wrote the book Sinhá Moça, which was later made into a film and two soap operas.  Today, the story arouses the curiosity of guests and the trees attract countless birds and animals seeking refuge, shade and fresh water. The land permeated by crystal clear waters that flow from the spring has become an inspiration to all who set foot here and feel the peace that emanates from the local fauna and flora.
