Cotton House Hotel
Cotton House Hotel

Cotton House occupies the magnificent building of the former Cotton Textile Fund, one of the city’s main architectural monuments. The building was built in the 19th century in the neoclassical style of the previous century, commissioned by a wealthy Barcelona family. In the 20th century, during the heyday of the cotton industry, it was acquired by the Cotton Growers’ Guild, which opened its headquarters here with the aim of centralizing all administrative departments and services. According to the founders’ plan, the building was to become a real temple of cotton. A century later, in 2015, after an intensive renovation by local developers, a luxury hotel opened its doors here. The renovation project involved the careful preservation and restoration of all the original elements of the building. The renowned designer Lázaro Rosa-Violán, who was entrusted with the interior design, managed to combine the refined subtlety of the modern eclectic style with the necessary functional content, guaranteeing comfort and top-notch service in accordance with the requirements of the most demanding guests. The original details of the building have been carefully preserved and restored: the majestic marble staircase, elegant parquet and carved wooden ceiling panels, original floors and walls of many rooms. The famous spiral staircase, built in 1957, also attracts attention. Unlike ordinary staircases, it does not rest on the floor, but is suspended on a metal structure on the top floor, which gives it lightness and airiness. As a result of the restoration, despite the complete replacement of all engineering systems of the building and its additional equipment in accordance with the requirements of modern comfort, the hotel has not lost its noble appeal, fully preserving its valuable historical and artistic heritage.
