Oh, the magic of new romance! The delightful duo, Paige Walker Zukich and Daniel Zukich shared their fantastic story with us!
“We found each other on social media in August 2020,” Paige began. At that time, Paige was living in NYC and Dan was Upstate but working in the city on a weekly basis. The memories of their first meeting were clearly etched in her mind. “The night we met we ended up laying down, looking out at the Manhattan skyline talking until 4 am,” she reminisced.
Their connection was undeniable, “like two old friends that were catching up after years apart,” Paige mused. They started dating immediately and never looked back.
Paige had planned a photoshoot for the two of them with Michael Sawyer, a good friend, and skilled photographer that she shoots with frequently. Dan surprised Paige halfway through the shoot by getting down on one knee. “I didn’t expect it to happen during the shoot,” confessed Paige.
The couple's dream wedding was inspired by Paige's childhood favorites. “I wanted to feel like a modern-day princess,” she shared. “My childhood favorites were Barbie Swan Lake, Nutcracker, and Beauty and the Beast.”
Their wedding was a blend of timeless elegance, sophistication, and a unique all-black attire concept for guests. When asked about the inspiration during their preparation, Paige mentioned, “I looked for updated classics, I wanted a blend of vintage and modern touches.”
The morning was all about the little things. The invitations were designed by Walker Creative, Paige's design company. As for the wedding rings, they went for custom designs. Daniel’s is a classic yellow gold band, with a small diamond on the inside “because he deserved something special too,”, the bride said. Paige’s band was a white gold cable, “simple enough not to take away from the unique toi et moi engagement band.”
Paige looked radiant in a customized Galia Lahav gown. “I tried on a lot of gowns, but this one made me feel like a bride,” she shared. Her final look was accessorized with a Galia veil, white strappy heels from Sam Edelman, and emerald-cut diamond drop earrings.
“I wore a second look custom-made by FJOLLA Haxismajli,” she added. She got ready at the best man’s Boathouse, accompanied by her bridesmaids, mom, mother-in-law, stepdaughter, and grandma.
Daniel opted for a classic Ralph Lauren tuxedo. His preparation was at the Marriott's bridal suite, surrounded by his groomsmen.
The first look took place at the staircase of a house on the water. Daniel was overwhelmed, saying, “I was experiencing a mix of emotions from this moment is finally here watching my love walking to me in the exact dress I would have picked for her.”
Paige admitted she had been waiting for this moment for a long time. “Everything was built up around this moment,” she said, recalling tapping him on the shoulder and asking him to turn around.
The couple had their pre-ceremony photoshoot around their beautiful property. “We had the most beautiful weather and wanted to capture the gorgeous scenery,” Paige said.
The ceremony, set against the backdrop of Skaneateles Lake, was nothing short of magical. Paige walked down the aisle to "Another Love" by Tom Oddel, played live by her uncle on the piano. Memorable moments included holding hands, seeing loved ones' faces, and some special handshakes.
Post-ceremony, the couple took a massive group photo and then whisked away in a vintage getaway car.
The color palette was classic black and white. “I wanted a ballroom that reflected the romance of my favorite childhood love story - Beauty and the Beast (I even designed and made a recreation of Belle’s dress for Disney on Broadway during my time at FIT NYC),” Paige explained.
They chose the Persian Terrace at the Syracuse Marriott for its ornate details and chandeliers.
Their first dance was to "The Night We Met" by Lord Huron “Since we married the night we met 3 years prior,” Paige shared.
The menu was unique, with special dishes like Pita Sirnica, a beloved Bosnian dish, and the cake was crafted by Gingersnap Bakery. Paige’s cocktail was a French 705 and Daniel’s was a Moscow Mazga.
In the end, the couple expressed immense gratitude towards their wedding team. “It felt like family! I was so happy to mesh so well with the entire team,” Paige said. A small hiccup occurred 4 weeks before the wedding when Daniel tore his patellar tendon. But with love, support, and a bit of resilience, they pulled off a wedding to remember.
