"We met on the west side of Los Angeles, in Venice," Debbie and Jorge tell us. "We fell in love very quickly, and never even had a real date of when we started dating. Our anniversary is the day that we met! We come from very different backgrounds, where we grew up, our cultures, family dynamics, jobs, etc."
The wedding took place at Cielo Farms in Malibu on April 8, 2023. Debbie and Jorge had about 170 guests attend their romantic European villa-inspired wedding.
"I wanted it to feel like you were at your families villa in Europe," Debbie explains. "Just kind of thrown together, but also very intentional! I didn’t want anything to really match too much almost like all of your aunts are somehow all amazing florists and they each brought their own stuff!"
What inspired Debbie most during the preparation was her love of throwing parties. She decided to lean into a more traditional aesthetic rather than going trendy. "I wanted pots, lots of flowers, a neutral, color scheme, a romantic atmosphere, all that good stuff!" she tells us.
One of the key moments Debbie will remember is seeing all of their friends and family getting along so well during the reception. "Also, all of the speeches really touched me," she shares. "my parents passed away the year before in 2022 and I was a bit apprehensive about having a big wedding without them, but it was so worth it, and I felt so full of love."
Jorge's favorite part was the amazing band during the reception. "He is a musician and loves music so much, seeing all the people he loves having a blast was definitely his favorite," Debbie says. "Also, he loved spending time with me at the sweetheart table and just kissing on each other!"
Debbie originally wanted just a diamond wedding band or two, but Jorge surprised her with a 4-carat diamond ring just two days before the wedding! "So I guess I got both lol" Debbie laughs. Jorge has a gold band with a vintage style that's not too shiny. He also got a second diamond band to "spice it up" when he wants!
Debbie had special jewelry including a locket from Catbird with a picture of her late parents inside. She also wore earrings from CompletedWorks, a bracelet from Mejuri, her gold wedding band, a diamond engagement ring, and her original engagement ring with wedding band diamonds on her right hand.
Debbie chose a customized gown from Cinq Bridal, who provided an amazing experience finding the perfect dress. "I am a curvier girl, and it was really difficult for me to find a dress that fit me. The wedding dress trying-on experience was actually pretty traumatizing lol," she admits.
"But Macy made my experience so wonderful and my alterations girl Sarah really made my dress fit me so perfectly. I’m so happy with the result," Debbie says. She found her dress designer on TikTok!
Debbie got ready with all of her bridesmaids at Calamigos Ranch. Her bridesmaids wore gorgeous dresses designed by Bec and Bridge.
Her bouquet by Paloma Florals was butter yellow with lots of garden roses - stunning! She added Christian Louboutin shoes and an Amazon veil to complete her bridal ensemble.
Jorge wore a sharp suit from Zara and got ready alone before meeting up with his groomsmen prior to the ceremony.
The ceremony took place at the stunning Cielo Farms venue. Debbie walked down the aisle to an acoustic guitar version of "Here Comes the Sun" by the Beatles. Jorge's two nieces were the flower girls, while Debbie's nephew was the ring bearer.
"Our vows were very personal," Debbie told us. "Also, my brother, he officiated the wedding and also how to take a selfie in the middle of the ceremony. Ha ha, people were crying so much!!"
After the ceremony, Debbie and Jorge took photos all around the fairytale-like Cielo Farms venue. “Took lots of amazing photos!” the bride states.
The color palette consisted of warm tones, whites, and pops of pink. The wedding decor at Cielo Farms made it feel like a storybook setting.
"We absolutely love this venue. It felt like walking into a fairytale! Very classic wedding vibes! We felt like we could really make it our own," say the newlyweds.
“It’s really important to me to mention that there were so many details that went into every single aspect of the wedding,” Debbie adds. “Cielo Farms arches going down had died so we had the florist fill out each one to ensure that they were full and lush. We also had her hanging flowers from each one so that when people walked through, they really felt like they were in a movie!”
Debbie and Jorge's first dance was to "Best Thing". Guests were greeted with Aperol spritzes or lemonade. "Tres LA does all the catering for Cielo Farms and they were just unbelievable! So good! Everyone kept saying that the service, and how the servers plated everyone at the same time was such an amazing experience," Debbie tells us.
The wedding cake was made by Suzie Cakes. Debbie and Jorge made sure every detail was perfect, from the lush floral archways to the fantastic live band and DJ who kept guests dancing all night long. It was a truly magical wedding day!
