Irena Balashko, a seasoned photographer with 12 years under her belt, comes from a rich artistic background as the daughter of a painter. However, unlike her progenitor who wielded brushes and oils, Irena crafts her masterpieces through the lenses of her trusted Canon EOS R6 Mark II and the classic Mamiya 645. She describes her unique approach to photography as akin to painting, stating, "A painter without inks, but a camera."
Delving deeper into her style, Irena identifies it as "contemporary fine art." She has skillfully found what she calls "the golden mean" between the authenticity of documentary photography and the polished aesthetics of editorial and fine art. This blend allows her to capture the raw emotions of her subjects while maintaining a stylized narrative that complements the grandeur of each occasion.
Irena passionately discusses her interaction with clients, emphasizing constant communication as key to understanding their vision. "To ask more, to hear more, to be constantly in touch during preparation and to make the photoshoot relaxed and easygoing for everybody involved," she explains. She ensures that every photoshoot remains relaxed and easygoing, allowing everyone involved to naturally express themselves, which she believes is essential for capturing genuine moments.
Handling up to 20 weddings annually, Irena commits to maintaining a balance that allows her to devote ample attention to each event. She offers a typical coverage of 12 hours per wedding. Irena adds that while this is her standard package, she’s always happy to discuss and customize details to create a bespoke experience that aligns perfectly with the dreams and needs of her clients.
A fervent enthusiast of destination weddings, Irena expresses a special affection for Italy and France, describing them as her top locations for their romantic backdrops that resonate with her artistic sensibilities.
Irena advises her clients on how to prepare for their wedding day to ensure the best photographic outcomes. "Choose a great team, create moodboard of your dream wedding with all specific the details," she suggests. "Ask the photographer about the best time to make pictures during the wedding, rely on the team, stress less and have a good rest before your unique day."
