Bea Tarasiuk, the heart and soul of a top Melbourne wedding photography company The New Old, shared her transformative journey from the corporate world to the realms of wedding and editorial photography. "Before I fell in love with photography, I was working as a project manager in the corporate world," Bea recounted. Seeking a more creative path, she made a life-changing decision to leave her job and move to Australia.

This bold step was not without its challenges, especially when the world went into lockdown. Bea utilized this period to immerse herself in the art of photography, laying the foundation of her business. "I must admit it was one of the best decisions I made in my life!" she reflected.

Bea's approach to photography, as she describes it, is deeply rooted in capturing the essence of each moment. "I strive to create images that will stand the test of time and will be forever treasured. My style is a mixture of editorial and filmic look, focused on the authentic moments captured in a timeless and artful way," she explained.

Drawing inspiration from design, minimalism, architecture, cinematography, and fashion photography, Bea strives to create images that will endure through time. "Each love story is one-of-a-kind and I believe wedding photography should reflect that," she emphasized.

Her gear, including Canon EOS R, Canon R5, Contax T2, and various Sigma lenses, aids her in this artistic endeavor. When asked about post-processing, Bea stressed the importance of maintaining naturalness. "I focus on the subject, light, composition while I am taking photos and my approach to post-production focuses on enhancing the image rather than changing it completely," she stated.

For Bea, photography is more than just capturing images; it's about capturing emotions. "Documenting true love and emotions happening during the wedding day," is what she cherishes most.

Her approach with clients is collaborative and respectful, ensuring a stress-free experience. "I work in a documentary style. I'm respectful and do not interfere with anything. I aim to capture the excitement, little moments, and emotions of the day naturally, beautifully, and unobtrusively. I only give some directions during wedding portraits. However, I try to keep the couple shots short, relaxed, and fun," Bea explained. She places great emphasis on building a rapport with her clients before the wedding day.

Bea also encourages her clients to prepare for their big day. "Create a mood board to understand your vision and expectations," she advised.

Bea's passion for photography extends beyond local weddings; she has a particular fondness for destination weddings. "Yes, I photograph many weddings in Europe. My favourite locations are Tuscany, Lake Como, and South France," she exclaimed. Her journey across continents, capturing love stories in picturesque locations, is a testament to her dedication and love for her craft.
