Doha looks utterly different at every hour. In the morning the glass towers of West Bay are all catching the sun over the Corniche. Just off the water, some 60 meters from the shore, the I.M. Pei Museum of Islamic Art has been there since 2008 (a very pale geometric block). By evening the artificial islands of The Pearl are all lit up along the coast, and a short drive away the dunes run all the way down to the water.
The city also has an older layer. Souq Waqif (restoration began in 2004) has that very old market feel right in the middle of the modern capital. A little further out is Al Zubarah, the old coastal trading town which was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2013. For couples, that's the real raison d'être of a wedding in Qatar. You can have all of the above in the same city: a glass ballroom, a private garden, a terrace over the water or an evening in the open desert.
Gulf weddings have their own rhythm too. They're very much family-focused, with a large number of guests, a very generous level of hospitality and a real sense of occasion. The summer is very hot, so any outdoor plans have to be very carefully timed and you have to provide shade. Many couples will actually prefer to have their wedding in the cooler months and will do all their planning around that. A lot of the time the planner is just getting the logistics right, and the guests never see any of that. A good planner in Qatar is in effect a designer, a producer and a schedule keeper all in one.
The five planners on this list work in the sector in very different ways. One has been in the business for 35 years, one runs its own workshop and warehouse and the others are essentially working on a small number of weddings per season. Some are very much in the five-star hotel camp, while others are happy to turn a private house or an open space into a venue. Several of them say the wedding should be about the couple and not about a template. Here's how they describe their own work.

Occasions Events
Occasions Events is run by Firas Issa and is based in Doha. Firas has 35 years' experience and his answers are always short and to the point. What he enjoys most about the job is "Creativity and making my clients happy." His approach is straightforward: keep it simple and keep it elegant.
The service covers absolutely everything. "I arrange and plan the wedding in all details and requirements." The aim is as straightforward as that: "To make a memorable day for them." Firas normally works at five-star hotels and is most at home with approximately 30 weddings per year.
The biggest problem in his career was COVID-19. His advice on budgeting is simple: work to a budget and start with the core requirements of the wedding. Looking back on the beginning of his career, he would tell himself to keep the overheads as low as possible. His dream venue would be a cruise boat.
White Wedding & Event Planners
White Wedding & Event is a studio run by Dina Khamis and based in Beirut, Lebanon. "My journey in wedding planning began almost 17 years ago, with my very first wedding in Doha." "It was an exciting yet challenging experience, particularly due to the limited time we had to bring everything together." What originally got Dina into wedding planning was design: "What initially drew me to wedding planning was my passion for design, creativity, and the ability to transform ordinary spaces into extraordinary experiences."
The studio's ethos is bold: "We are driven by a constant desire to challenge ourselves, push boundaries, and turn the impossible into reality." It offers a complete service from the very first idea through to the final detail (mood board development, design concepts, 3D renderings, production and execution). It conducts weddings all over the region and is not bound to one location at all. It plans weddings in ballrooms, private homes and all sorts of other bespoke locations.
Outdoor weddings are probably among the team's most memorable projects and also among the hardest. "This freedom to transform an open space into a thoughtfully designed and cohesive experience is what makes outdoor weddings particularly exciting and rewarding." The difficulties are very real, "from inaccurate blueprints to unpredictable weather." The ideal venue isn't one particular address either: "While the venue plays a significant role, we believe the true magic lies in what you create within it." The advice to couples is as straightforward as it can be: "Your wedding should be a reflection of who you are."
Etoile Signature
Etoile Signature is based in Doha and has a team that is fully fluent in English, Arabic and French. It is founded on one principle: "Etoile was founded with a singular belief: that weddings are not merely events, they are celestial moments that deserve to shine with the same brilliance as the love they celebrate." It draws on "the grandeur of European tradition and the warmth of modern celebration" and work from "Qatar's finest venues to the celebrated palaces of the wider Gulf."
The philosophy is down to one line really: "We believe weddings are celestial events, rare, radiant, and unforgettable." The style is deliberately quiet: "the kind of luxury that does not announce itself, but is felt in every seamless moment and thoughtful detail." Every wedding is totally bespoke: "No templates, every celebration uniquely tailored to your vision." The aim is to create something that lasts: "Trends fade, but elegance endures."
The company is very selective. "Our team maintains a deliberately limited number of bookings each season, ensuring that every couple receives our complete, undivided attention and the highest standard of care." That's 12 weddings per season, supported by an international vendor network across 15+ countries. Discretion is paramount: "Every detail, every conversation, every wish is held with the utmost privacy."
The Label by Kholoud
The Label by Kholoud (also known as The Label By K) is based in Doha, Qatar, and is "known for executing grandeur and over-the-top weddings and events." Its signature is "understated elegance, playing into the world of extravagant structures with individual and intentional designs."
Its portfolio is a good illustration of just how different the designs can be. It includes a Japanese-Qatari fusion wedding, a pink-themed engagement, an English garden wedding in Qatar and an Arabian-inspired wedding.
The scale can be huge and the look remains quiet and very personal. For couples, it's a planner for the big, ambitious weddings where the design is very much chosen rather than just copied.
The Planner Qatar
The Planner Qatar has been working in the luxury events space throughout the Middle East since 2009. "Since 2009, we have helped shape the luxury event industry across the region, built on craftsmanship, creativity, and an unyielding commitment to excellence." The company is headed by its founder Mr. Johnny, "internationally recognized for his talent, luxury aesthetics, and creative vision." It counts over 1,500 royal weddings and a team of 244.
Production is in-house. "We operate over 17,000 sqm of meticulously organized warehouse spaces paired with a fully equipped production workshop," with "advanced CNC machines, large-format printers, specialized chair-making units, and multi-disciplinary artisan workshops." The stock of carpets, fabrics, tables, chairs and decor is "updated annually to reflect the highest global standards of luxury."
Other designers use it as well: "Top international designers and premier event partners, including world-renowned names like Preston Bailey, trust us to execute their largest and most complex design concepts." Weddings are one of the key areas of its private celebrations: "Weddings, anniversaries, and milestones transformed into timeless masterpieces." The promise to the client is "memorable events that offer every client professionalism, precision, and peace of mind."
The first decision isn't about style. It's about the setting. A wedding at a five-star hotel (which is something Occasions Events will often plan) is a completely different proposition to one in a private house or on open ground (which is the sort of thing White Wedding & Event Planners would do). A hotel provides you with the venue and the team. An open space provides you with freedom and also brings with it the blueprints, the power, the weather and all the other issues that a hotel would deal with for you. Neither is better. They're different types of project and require different planners. So set that first and then pick the planner.
Qatar rewards couples who make use of the contrast that the city itself provides. Think about what the place offers you that you simply can't get in another country: the skyline, the sea, the old market, the dunes. Ask the planners how they would use it, and listen for ideas that are genuinely Doha and genuinely yours rather than a plan that could work in any number of places. Don't forget to consider the calendar either. With the summers being so hot, you do want to ask early about the season, shade and indeed a plan B for any outdoor activity.
Now look at how each planner operates. How many weddings do they take? White Wedding & Event Planners takes six to eight a year. Etoile Signature takes 12 per season. Occasions Events takes around 30. Who produces the design? The Planner Qatar builds in its own workshop, so ask the others how much they produce themselves. How much experience do they have? Occasions Events has 35 years, The Planner Qatar has worked since 2009 and White Wedding & Event Planners since 2010. Always get a written budget before you book anything, and start, as Occasions Events advises, with your priorities and the core requirements of the wedding.
One rule for all of them: it has to be the couple's wedding. Find the planner who will listen to you first and who will be up front with you if an idea is going to be impossible. Speak to two or three teams, look at full events rather than just the highlights and go with the one whose style you know is going to be your style.
