At Wezoree, we have read countless proposal stories, and we have learned one thing: no two are ever the same. Different countries, different circumstances and different versions of the same question — each one mattered completely to the two people involved. The five stories below are proof of that.

Aleksandra & Dawid — Bali, Indonesia
There was supposed to be a waterfall.
Dawid had planned it carefully — it was to be a breathtaking spot in Bali, the kind of setting that practically stages itself. But when they arrived, the conditions weren't right. Something was off. It didn't feel like their moment, and he could tell. So he waited.
The next morning, they woke up early at their hotel, tucked away from the noise of the city. The sun was rising over the misty jungle and the quiet rice paddies. They were still in their pajamas, completely unprepared and completely themselves. And that was exactly it.
Aleksandra shares. What followed was something even more intimate than the proposal itself. “For a long time afterwards, we stayed in that moment together, keeping it as our own little secret. It was just us, and for those first few hours, we were the only two people in the world who knew we were engaged.”
A waterfall would have been beautiful. But this was something else entirely.
Ryley & Michael — At Home, United States
First is the restaurant where it all began. Then there's the backyard, where they live their lives. Finally, a house full of people who had been waiting all evening.
Michael planned the proposal in three parts, each one more emotional than the last. He took Ryley back to the restaurant where they had been on their very first date — a deeply meaningful choice in itself. When they got home, he proposed in their backyard. “I was truly in shock and had no idea it was coming,” she says. Then came the third surprise: an engagement party at her parents' house with all their loved ones already there celebrating.
Three moments, one evening and a proposal that captured who they are as a couple perfectly.
Irene & Giacomo — New York City, United States
This one started as a gift from Irene to Giacomo — a week in New York, his dream destination, organised without his knowledge. Two days in, he led her across the entire Brooklyn Bridge to a viewpoint with a panoramic view. That's where he got down on one knee.
But the story has a third character. Back home, they welcomed a dachshund into their family and named him Otto. They were together for eight years — and eight in Italian is otto. As Irene puts it, he was their gift to each other for those eight years. Otto will carry the wedding rings. “We love him madly, so he had to be the first to know.”
Diana & Hussein — Monaco
Hussein had arranged a surprise trip to Monaco, a place that Diana had always wanted to visit. That alone would have been enough. But he had thought further ahead.
They strolled through a stunning garden with a view of the city, and everything felt effortlessly perfect — the kind of afternoon that feels like a memory even while you're experiencing it. He set up a tripod to capture the moment, as couples do when they want to remember a place. Within seconds, he was on one knee.
“I didn't expect it at all,” says Diana.
Some proposals work not because of their complexity, but because of their clarity. No elaborate cover story, no hidden guests, no third act. Just the right place, the right person, and a question that had been a long time coming.
Lara & Thales — New York City, United States
Lara had imagined this moment before it happened. She had talked about it with her best friend: just the two of them somewhere beautiful, with no fuss. After almost seven years together and many conversations about their home and their future, she had a feeling that the proposal might happen during their birthday trip to Florida and New York. What she didn't know was exactly when it would happen or how perfectly it would unfold.
Central Park had always been a dream. On their first day in New York, however, the weather was cloudy, so they waited. The next day, however, brought bright blue skies and the city was in full bloom. They wandered through the park looking for a spot that Thales had seen: a lake and a castle-like building. When they found it, Lara set up the tripod as she always does. They record videos and take screenshots on every trip — it just feels more natural. What she didn't realise was that this time, the whole moment was being captured on camera.
They took the photos. Then Thales asked if they could just take a moment to admire the view.
A few seconds later, he called my name. I turned around and there he was on one knee, holding the most beautiful ring in the world and asking,
Afterwards, they walked to St Patrick's Cathedral to pray and give thanks. “I'm going to marry my best friend,” says Lara. “It was everything I had ever dreamed of — a real-life fairy-tale moment.”
Each of these stories is unique. Each one is also, in its own way, perfect. Not because everything went to plan, but because the right person was there when it mattered.
