In 2013, Roxanne, fresh out of college, and Jeremy, a skilled electrician, unknowingly embarked on a beautiful journey. Their paths crossed at Tesla, specifically while installing the first-ever charging station at the Fremont Factory. Who would've thought that a casual meeting would blossom into a love that's been electrifying for nearly a decade? As they collaborated on various Tesla projects, their bond deepened, and before they knew it, they were penning vows to immortalize their enchanting love story.
As for the proposal it took place at Hanalei Pier in Kaua'i. “Jeremy took me out on the pier at sunset and got down on one knee and proposed. I was definitely expecting it,” shared Roxanne.
Our radiant bride, Roxanne, shared, "Ever since I was a child I always knew that I wanted a big traditional Assyrian wedding. Which represents my heritage/ culture. Venue: Always wanted to choose a luxurious and picturesque location that was by the water/ beachfront resort. Decor: Lavish decor, with cascading floral arrangements and elegant drapery. Incorporate gold accents, plush seating, and extravagant table settings. Attire: Wear a show-stopping designer wedding gown with intricate details such as beading. My husband would have a tailored custom tuxedo. Entertainment: Have a live performance by renowned musicians or bands to entertain guests throughout the event along with a DJ."
Inspiration came knocking through social media. Platforms like Instagram and Pinterest were treasure troves of ideas, with accounts of wedding planners, photographers, and influencers showcasing the latest trends.
The moment that will forever be etched in Roxanne's memory? "Walking down the aisle. The moment I made my grand entrance, walking down the aisle towards my husband-to-be. This was honestly such an emotional and unforgettable moment, filled with joy, nerves, and overwhelming love. Not to mention, having my dad stand by my side to give me away."
A delicate touch was evident in every detail. Emily Mayne Studio crafted exquisite invitations, ceremony programs, and other stationery. Roxanne's bejeweled adornments were gifts from Jeremy, adding an extra sparkle to the day.
When asked about their ring selection process, Roxanne said, "Jeremy and I visited various jewelry stores to try on different styles of wedding rings. This gave us a better sense of how they look and feel on our fingers. It's important to pay attention to comfort and fit."
Roxanne gushed, "I always knew I wanted a Zuhair dress. To be honest, I went to two different dress stores in Glendale, CA. I ended up going with Lovella Bridal and tried on a total of 10 dresses that day. It was pretty quick!"
Complementing her dress were a Zuhair veil, Jimmy Choo heels, Cartier jewelry, and a Maria Elena headpiece. And, let's not forget the classic bouquet of white roses by Flowers by Edgar.
Over in Jeremy's corner, the dapper groom was suited in a tuxedo by Franco Uomo. He and his band of groomsmen readied themselves at the Ritz's Grooms Suite in Half Moon Bay.
Opting for tradition, the couple's first look was the iconic walk down the aisle. Jeremy was, in his words, "lost for words and overjoyed."
Held on the scenic Ocean Lawn of the Ritz in Half Moon Bay, the ceremony was a blend of love, joy, and traditions. From Roxanne's ethereal walk down the aisle to the tunes of "Ave Maria" to their sacred Assyrian rituals, every moment was profound.
Here’s how it all went, “Blessed by a Priest: Known as burakha, the couple is given a 45-minute long blessing by the priest. Our faith is a strong part of who we are. Ceremony: As the newlyweds make their entrance into the banquet hall of their reception, the bride dances with a decorated handkerchief, known as the yalekhta, and the groom dances with a decorated cane, known as the kopala. Concurrently, the guests twirl their decorated handkerchiefs and ululate in celebration. Afterward, the guests will gather in the center of the banquet hall and perform Assyrian folk dances. During this event, while everyone is dancing to the music of the zurna (zorna) and bass drum (dawola),” shared the bride.
Their lovely flower girls, Emmy, Scarlett, and Phoebe, along with ring bearer Nathan, added a touch of innocence to the event.
Roxanne shared her venue selection journey: "Budget: Determine what our overall budget was. Capacity: Since I wanted a large wedding, I had to consider the number of guests that I wanted to invite and ensure that the venue could comfortably accommodate them. Location: Considered factors such as accessibility for guests, proximity to accommodations, and specific preferences that I may have, such as a beachfront setting. Style and Atmosphere: I wanted an elegant ballroom and the Ritz in Half Moon Bay aligned with my desired aesthetic and ambiance. Amenities and Services: I considered the amenities and services offered by the venue. Which included catering/ beverage options, in-house wedding coordination, parking facilities, and more."
The décor palette was sophisticated, with hues of gold, white, and hints of blue.
As Shania Twain's "From This Moment" played, the couple shared their first dance, a nod to Roxanne's love for Shania. A delectable wedding cake was made by Flower Flour from Campbell, CA.
When asked about their experience with the wedding vendors, Roxanne remarked, "We appreciated the professionalism of our wedding vendors along with their expertise and guidance. Most offered us valuable advice, creative ideas, and overall guidance based on their expertise. A special shoutout to my wedding planner, Stacy, who worked tirelessly to bring our dreams to life. Her dedication, creativity, and attention to detail are truly commendable."
