Georgette & Christian's Timeless Miami Wedding at The Ancient Spanish Monastery

Love Story
Georgette and Christian's story started with laughter and vibrant energy at the Dirty Rabbit bar in Miami on June 24th, 2018. "Amidst laughter and the vibrant energy of the night, a chance encounter ignited a spark, setting the stage for a love story that would forever change our lives," Georgette shares.
Three weeks later, on July 15th, 2018, they made it official. What followed was a journey of becoming not just lovers, but best friends and partners in every sense. "We have weathered every storm and celebrated each victory, nurturing a bond that goes beyond romance," Georgette reflects. "We have become each other's greatest supporters, best friends, and partners in every sense, building a love rooted in trust and laughter."
Five years into their relationship, during their anniversary celebration in Isla Baru, Cartagena, Colombia, Christian planned the perfect proposal. "Details: 5-course private candlelight dinner by the beach. After we were done eating we took a walk by the shore, and that is where he proposed. No one else was around, just the two of us," Georgette recalls.
About Your Wedding
After 1.5 years of planning, Georgette and Christian created a wedding that was "intimate, timeless, romantic with an old world feel." Their goal? "Wanting to create an experience filled with details to our guests."
The bride owns a Montessori preschool in Midtown Miami and plays tennis in her spare time, while Christian runs his own accounting firm and races competitively as a cyclist on a local racing team. When we asked about the key moment they'll treasure forever, Georgette didn't hesitate: "Our first look was magical. He cried so much I had to comfort him."
Morning Details
Georgette is Dominican, Christian is Colombian, and they wove elements from both cultures throughout their celebration. Their invitations were designed by Unigrafica RD, crafted in their home countries as a tribute to their roots. Tinta y Tierra designed custom signs, menus, and place holders that perfectly captured their timeless aesthetic.
For the wedding rings, Georgette had a clear vision from the start. "As soon as I got my engagement ring, I had a vision of what I wanted my wedding ring to look like," she explains. "We went together to the jewelry stores and picked together."
Hidden in Georgette's bouquet from EverAfter Florist were special charms with pictures of her two dear aunts who had passed, keeping their memory close to her heart as she walked down the aisle.
Bride Getting Ready
Georgette's search for her dress took her to New York City with her mom and sister. "My wedding dress was designed by Pnina Tornai," she shares. "I planned a special trip to New York with my mom and sister to visit different boutiques, and after trying on about six stores' worth of dresses, I thought I might not find 'the one.'"
She knew exactly what she wanted. “Something romantic and timeless—not too costumey or floral-heavy—but nothing truly wowed me until I tried on this Pnina dress. The moment I did, I just knew. Even though I went to my other appointments, I couldn't stop comparing everything back to that gown, so I returned the next day and purchased it." She also created a custom mantilla veil with Pnina to complete the look.
The morning unfolded in a corner ocean-view suite at the Grand Beach Hotel in Surfside,where the couple had their room block and hosted their "The Night Before" event. "I was surrounded by my seven bridesmaids, my mom, the groom's mom and grandma, and my own grandmother—it was such a special, joy-filled space," Georgette remembers.
She wore a custom VOIR robe while Gia Despo Bridal worked on hair and makeup, then slipped into her Pnina Tornai gown with her custom mantilla veil and Aquazurra shoes. Her seven bridesmaids wore dresses designed by V. Chapman Studio.
For the reception, Georgette changed into a second dress. "Later, for the party, I changed into a second dress—an incredible custom design by Hanna Gotz Studio—which was perfect for dancing the night away while still keeping the romantic, timeless feeling to match our venue." She paired it with Jimmy Choo shoes made for celebrating.
Groom Getting Ready
Christian prepared at the Grand Beach Hotel, surrounded by his groomsmen, Georgette's father, and his stepfather. He wore two custom Suit Supply tuxedos—a white tuxedo for the ceremony and a dark green tuxedo for the party.
First Look
The first look at The Ancient Spanish Monastery was the emotional highlight everyone will remember. When Christian first saw Georgette in her wedding dress, he completely lost it. "He could not speak, he was crying so much. He then said the dress was exactly what he thought it would be," Georgette recalls.
Watching her typically composed groom fall apart with emotion caught Georgette off guard. "My heart melted when I saw how emotional he got when he saw me, I am normally the crier and was expecting to cry more myself, but somehow I was calm and ready." She spent those first moments comforting Christian as happy tears streamed down his face, both of them savoring this private moment before becoming husband and wife.
Photoshoot Before The Ceremony
The Ancient Spanish Monastery provided the perfect backdrop for their pre-ceremony photos. "We chose this venue because it is absolutely stunning and has that old-world feel. We knew from the moment we selected the venue that we wanted our pictures there," Georgette explains. Photographer Ramses Garcia captured every angle of the historic monastery, from its ancient stone walls to its lush gardens.
Ceremony
The ceremony took place in the monastery's garden. Guests sipped Prosecco and enjoyed water from a Saratoga Water Station as the couple's nieces and nephews served as flower girls, with their nephew Noah taking on the important role of ring bearer.
Georgette walked down the aisle to Lana Del Rey's "Young and Beautiful." "It was breathtaking," she remembers.
During the ceremony, tradition played an important role. "Our mothers placed a giant rosary lasso on us during the ceremony to provide us with their blessing," Georgette shares, honoring their shared Latin heritage.
Most heartwarming memory? "Walking down the aisle as husband and wife was magical!" Georgette exclaims.
Photoshoot After The Ceremony
While guests enjoyed cocktail hour with passed hors d'oeuvres, Georgette and Christian had their moment with a vintage car. "We rented a vintage Jaguar to do pictures during cocktail hour," Georgette reveals. "Those pictures are so stunning." Miami Vintage PropCars provided the classic automobile that added an extra layer of elegance to their photos.
Wedding Venue & Decor
The Ancient Spanish Monastery wasn't just a venue—it was the only choice once they saw it. "We visited multiple venues in Miami, but as soon as we walked the Ancient Spanish Monastery we knew it was the one," Georgette says.
Ever After Florist brought their vision to life with a color palette of neutral tones, greens, whites, creams, and blush. The design was enhanced by the warm glow of candles from Everlight Candles.
Everything was personalized, from the custom menus and place holders to the wedding favors—handmade ceramic custom shot glasses made in Mexico with the couple's initials, paired with mini bottles of Don Julio Tequila.
For their Hora Loca, guests received Rescue flats for dancing comfort and custom Greek-inspired headpieces, nodding to the couple's honeymoon destination in Greece. Bill Hansen Luxury Catering provided stunning rentals and service, while Event Factor handled music and lighting.
Reception
The celebration kicked off with Georgette and Christian's first dance to Juan Luis Guerra's "Mi Bendición." Bill Hansen Catering served an exquisite meal starting with salad, followed by a choice of fish, meat, or pasta, and finishing with Casa Gioia's three-flavor dessert cakes and custom dessert table.
Guests also enjoyed an Antipasto Station featuring imported and domestic cheeses, cured meats, olives, and breads—including Parmesan in a cheese wheel and live carving of Bellota Ham. An espresso cart kept the energy flowing, while a premium VIP bar served signature cocktails: Georgette's Paloma and Christian's Tangerine Honey Old Fashioned.
As Hora Loca began (courtesy of Stepflix), guests danced in their Rescue flats and Greek headpieces. Lux R Films captured every moment on video, while The Social POV documented behind-the-scenes moments. The couple's feelings about their vendors are clear: "Loved every single one of our vendors."
