A Lemon-Scented Romance: Alice & Edward's Perfect Wedding at Villa Scorzi

Love Story

Alice and Edward regularly saw each other at their local gym but never spoke until their mutual friend's farewell party. Though gym staff had insisted they were perfect for each other, it took that special evening for the spark to ignite. When Alice first truly noticed Edward at the party, the attraction was immediate. Even her usually reserved dog Tonino instantly took to Edward, settling comfortably on his lap.

"And that's how it always felt with him (and still does): simple, fun, light, interesting. Like we had known each other for way longer."

Their relationship moved swiftly—within weeks they moved in together, and within months they were discussing marriage. Edward proposed at Richmond Park, the site of their first date, with Tonino witnessing the special moment.

"And here we are, happily married and still madly in love each other..."

About Your Wedding

After six to eight months of planning, Alice and Edward welcomed 98 guests to their dream wedding at Villa Scorzi in Calci, near Pisa, Italy. The couple, who share a love of training, sports, traveling, and good food, wanted their celebration to reflect their personalities: romantic and elegant, yet unfussy.

"We didn’t really have a vision in mind," Alice admits. "I had never really pictured my wedding before (which is mad, I know..) but we knew we wanted to celebrate with our loved ones and we wanted it to be in Italy, which is where I come from."

The wedding featured a sunny yellow color palette with beige and green accents, mirroring the villa's natural surroundings. Lemons became a charming motif throughout the celebration, appearing in everything from the digital invitations to the décor. "We wanted it to be romantic and elegant and that it reflected us. We wanted the villa to feel special, but simple," explains Alice. "Something that reflected our love."

Morning Details

The couple opted for paperless invitations designed through Getting Married. "It was easy, straightforward, elegant and they had lemons!" Alice says happily.

Their wedding rings were chosen together, but Alice also wore treasured family jewelry: her mother-in-law's vintage emerald ring (an engagement present) and diamond earrings that Edward had given her at their legal ceremony months before.

The wedding stationery, created with help from their planners at Scelta di Classe, featured lemon motifs on everything from the menus to the welcome board, tying in perfectly with the day's aesthetic.

Bride Getting Ready

Alice's dress journey began and ended with the very first gown she tried on with her mother, who traveled from Italy to London for the appointments. "My wedding dress was THE dress. It was love at first sight, just like with Edward," she says emphatically. "I had a completely different idea in mind. I wanted it to be strapless, or with spaghetti straps, but I went for a long-sleeved, backless, gorgeous lace and crepe gown which took everyone’s breath away. It’s the Tamara gown, the most gorgeous dress ever!" Alice later changed into a more party-friendly dress from Be Secrets, a local shop in her hometown.

The bride got ready in the gorgeous bridal suite at Villa Scorzi, surrounded by her mother, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and best friends. Their photographer, Doriane Descamps—one of Alice's closest friends—captured these intimate moments while videographer Pablo Figlia documented the preparations.

"I didn't want a veil," Alice explains. "So I just went for an embellished headpiece (again, similar to what my mum had on her wedding day!) with my hair up (and then down for the party)"

Her shoes, from Lace & Favour, were both gorgeous and practical. "I wore a pair of Manolo Blahnik for my legal wedding and they got destroyed," she laughs. "So I wanted something gorgeous, but comfortable and less delicate, given the gravel and grass of the villa. My shoes were simple, gorgeous, and suuuuper comfortable!"

For her bouquet, Alice trusted her wedding planner Elisa from Scelta di Classe, who is also a talented florist. "I had a 'messy bouquet'—I'm not a fan of those round and perfect ones," Alice says.

Groom Getting Ready

Edward looked dashing in a custom-made midnight blue three-piece suit by Italian tailor Giuseppe Diele. The groom prepared for the day with his three best men in a separate part of the villa, with occasional visits from his parents and sister. Photographer Doriane and videographer Pablo captured these moments as well, ensuring both sides of the wedding morning were documented.

Ceremony

The ceremony took place in the stunning gardens of Villa Scorzi, with two of the couple's closest friends, Myles and Natalie, officiating.
"We wanted it to be special and wanted someone we knew to marry us," Alice says.

The ceremony beautifully reflected the couple's multicultural backgrounds. Alice is Italian, and Edward is English-Brazilian, and they wanted their wedding to honor all aspects of their heritage. Following Italian-Brazilian tradition, Edward entered with his mother on his arm, while his groomsmen were already waiting at the altar.

As Alice walked down the aisle to "I Get to Love You" by Ruelle, preceded by a surprise poem read by the singer, emotions ran high. Little Emma, Edward's cousin's daughter and the only child at the wedding, served as flower girl, while Tonino proudly carried the rings.

"Few seconds before walking out, the hug between me and my dad was special," Alice reminisces. "As well as the hug my girls and I have each other. Having Tonino with us was special too. When Edward turned around as I was approaching him and cried was so special. Seeing everyone tear up, laugh and cry with us was incredible." Her brother and sister-in-law read a touching poem, adding another layer of personal connection to the ceremony.

"Our celebrants led a fun, romantic, and beautiful ceremony," Alice says. "They had us cry, laugh, and cry again. It was magical."

Photoshoot After The Ceremony

After becoming husband and wife, Alice and Edward took some time for themselves, stepping away from the guests for a private photoshoot.
"We had the villa at our disposal, the gardens are so big... so we had photos taken by the pool, others by the trees, staircases, archway," Alice explains.

Wedding Venue & Decor

Villa Scorzi captivated the couple from the start, even though their first glimpse of it came through a video call on a rainy day. "My husband wasn’t convinced," Alice admits. "But for some reason, I thought it was the one. My mother and godmother went to see it spring and confirmed it was beautiful."

When Alice and Edward finally visited in person two months before the wedding, they were enchanted. "The gardens were blossoming, every little detail was incredible, and that just confirmed the choice," Alice recalls. "Again, it was love at first sight even with the venue!"

The wedding décor featured a sunny yellow color palette with accents of beige, blue, and green. Florist Giovanna Romagnoli created arrangements that complemented the villa's natural beauty with lemon trees, lemon decorations in baskets, candles, and countryside-inspired blooms like hydrangeas. Alice adds, "My bridesmaids picked their own dresses. They all have different bodies and feel comfortable with different cuts. I wanted them to look their best but also feel confident and sexy in their yellow dresses so left them free to pick their own style (I only asked for yellow!) And it didn’t disappoint, they were stunning!"

Reception

The reception was a true celebration of the couple's multicultural heritage. Alice is Italian, and Edward is English-Brazilian, so they incorporated traditions from all three cultures. "We had the famous 'napkins in the air' as we entered dinner, which is very Italian," Alice says. Their first dance was to "Forever and Ever and Always"—the first song Edward ever sent Alice as an Instagram reel.

The food was a standout feature, showcasing regional Tuscan specialties. "We wanted to give our guests a proper taste of Italy - and the original one," Alice emphasizes. "Not many people know that there is no such thing as “Italian food” as Italy is made of regions that are specialized in different dishes or different versions of the same dishes."

The menu included panzanella, local cheeses and prosciutto ("don't call it ham!" Alice insists), and "tonno del Chianti" (slow-cooked pork shoulder that shreds to resemble tuna). Finger foods during the aperitivo included ribollita and pappa al pomodoro, while the midnight snack was the classic "spaghetti aglio, olio e peperoncino."

Instead of a traditional tiered cake, the couple opted for a fresh lemon cake that perfectly matched their theme. "The food was 10/10, unbelievably delicious and fresh!" raves Edward. "From the aperitivo till the midnight snack which was the “spaghetti aglio, olio e peperoncino” aka spaghetti with chili, garlic and olive oil. Amazing."

When asked about their experience working with their wedding vendors, Alice finds herself at a loss for words. "I think I’ve used the word 'perfect' so often in the previous answers that I have to find a new one to describe my experience with Scelta di Classe. However, the reality is that there is no other word to describe it all. It was perfect. Elisa and Giada made the whole experience fun, effortless and exciting.
They have supported me, my crazy ideas, and my stubbornness throughout the whole process and days. They were perfect."

As the night progressed, the Male Girls band and DJ kept the dance floor packed until the early hours. “Although my wedding was absolutely perfect from a location, photography, videography, catering and entertainment (and organization point of view) and everyone looked absolutely incredible in their outfits, the best part of the wedding couldn’t be captured," Alice reflects. "It had to be felt. Experienced. The love that accompanied that day was absolutely everywhere: in our family and friends’s smiles and tears, in the hugs and looks, in the kisses. It was everywhere, in every little detail. Everyone that worked with us (vendors and wedding planner) and attended the wedding truly loves us as a couple."

She continues: "At the end of the day, the houses, the nice bags (and I don’t say this lightly) and the fancy cars, don’t matter. At the end and beginning of our life together all that matters is that I had him and he had me. And that was so visible during the whole wedding and something that one can only feel and not describe."
