A Greenhouse Romance: Sinthura and Kavithan's Tamil Wedding at Quarry Lion Golf Resort

Love Story

"It all started back in high school," Sinthura reminisces. "What began as simple text messages quickly turned into long conversations that stretched late into the night. Life eventually took us in different directions, but years later, we found our way back to each other. That’s when everything truly began."

Years later, when they reconnected, magic happened. "We got to know each other all over again, shared laughter, navigated challenges, and slowly built something meaningful and lasting," she explains. "What started as a quiet connection grew into a deep love."

The proposal story is equally enchanting. During a dream trip to Morocco, Kavithan orchestrated a surprise that would change their lives forever. "Morocco had always been a dream destination for me," Sinthura shares, her eyes lighting up. While exploring the breathtaking resort of Amanjena, what appeared to be a photographer capturing the scenery was actually there for a much more intimate moment. "In that magical moment, surrounded by beauty and stillness, he got down on one knee," she recounts.

About Your Wedding

For their September 15, 2024 wedding, Sinthura and Kavithan welcomed 250 guests to celebrate their union at Quarry Lion Golf Resort. The couple spent nine months planning every detail of their special day, infusing it with their unique aesthetic and cultural heritage.

When asked about their vision, Sinthura's eyes light up. "We wanted our florals to be the showstoppers of our wedding day, so we chose a floral greenhouse as the perfect backdrop to set the scene," she explains. "After much planning, we decided to design an aisle that would mimic a meadow, blending both dry and fresh greenery. The aisle led to the stage, which was framed by eight large pillars—each designed and built by my husband. The florals filled the space, adding a modern touch that beautifully complemented the deep traditions and culture of our wedding."

"One of our proudest moments? Designing the florals for our own wedding. It was the ultimate labour of love—deeply personal, incredibly intentional, and a full-circle moment in our journey together," the couple shares.

The style and concept of their wedding reflected this deeply personal connection to nature. "We wanted to honour the sacred rituals of our Tamil culture while also expressing our personalities through art and nature," Sinthura shares passionately. "The concept was inspired by a greenhouse—lush, abundant, and organic, yet elevated with intention and creativity. Every detail was a reflection of our shared love for florals, our creative spirits, and our desire to merge heritage with innovation."

When asked about her most cherished moment, Sinthura doesn't hesitate. "For me, it was the moment I walked into the space and saw our vision come to life. It wasn't just beautiful; it was us," she shares, her voice softening with emotion. "Every detail reflected our story, our culture, and the creative journey we took together. Seeing that space filled with the energy of our loved ones made it even more meaningful. It was the perfect blend of intention and emotion—something we’ll never forget."

Morning Details

The couple's creative touch was evident from the start, with self-designed wedding stationery that perfectly captured their aesthetic.
"Each piece was thoughtfully created to reflect our personal style and the overall vision we had for the day," Sinthura shares.

Their wedding bands, from Marrow Fine Jewelry, reflected their unique style. "We knew we wanted something unique and a little funky, and they definitely delivered," Sinthura says. "The designs felt true to us— modern, edgy, and meaningful."

Bride Getting Ready

For her bridal look, Sinthura embraced her Tamil heritage with two traditional sarees, each chosen with tremendous significance. "My first look was the manavarai saree, a rich Kerala Kanchipuram silk in deep olive with golden threads. It was worn during the ceremony while seated on the manavarai," she explains. "My second look was the koorai saree, a traditional Tamil bridal saree worn during the second part of the ceremony." The koorai saree, a vibrant red symbolizing purity and prosperity, holds special importance in Tamil wedding customs. Both sarees were found in stores in Kerala, India, making them authentically connected to her cultural roots.

The bride's getting-ready session took place at home,where she was surrounded by immediate family and close friends. "My husband and I built the backdrop ourselves, using antique and vintage pieces that added a unique, personal touch," she notes.

Demonstrating her artistic flair, Sinthura designed and created her own bridal bouquet. "It was such a fun experience being able to create something for myself," she beams. "I knew I wanted something unique and funky, so I went for an asymmetrical design filled with greenery and rich, textured florals."

Groom Getting Ready

Kavithan honored tradition with his veti, a traditional Tamil wedding attire from a store in Malaysia. "The veti is a classic outfit worn by grooms, symbolizing purity and tradition," Sinthura explains.

Like his bride, Kavithan prepared for the big day at home, surrounded by immediate family and friends. His getting-ready photoshoot took place in his bedroom, capturing intimate moments before the ceremony.

Ceremony

The ceremony took place on a stage within a greenhouse, creating a stunning botanical setting for their Tamil wedding traditions. "The opulence of our wedding day was rooted in the sacred rituals of Tamil culture and Hinduism," the couple describes. For Sinthura, one moment stood above the rest in its emotional significance. "The thaali moment was incredibly significant and emotional for me," she shares. "As the groom tied the thaali, it symbolized the purity and sanctity of our union, and it felt like a beautiful and profound moment of connection."

For both of her entrances, Sinthura walked down an aisle designed to mimic a meadow, "blending both dry and fresh greenery," to the sound of Tamil music that held special meaning for her.

Following their ceremony, the newlyweds chose the natural surroundings of the golf course for their wedding portraits. "The open greenery, soft natural light, and peaceful surroundings provided the perfect backdrop—elegant, timeless, and in harmony with the organic feel of our wedding," they explain.

The couple's vision for their wedding centered around bringing the outdoors in, with nature serving as their primary inspiration. Their inspiration came from the most organic source. "Nature was our greatest muse," Sinthura says, her voice filled with reverence. "We were drawn to the way it shows up—layered, textured, imperfect, yet beautifully balanced. Its quiet rhythm felt grounding, and we wanted that same feeling to guide our wedding."

This natural influence extended to their color palette as well. "Our palette was inspired by earthy tones—deep olive, soft gold, warm browns, and the subtle blush of dried petals," she describes thoughtfully. "These colours felt natural, timeless, and full of quiet depth—just like the kind of love we were celebrating."

The greenhouse venue was a deliberate choice that perfectly complemented their vision. "We knew we wanted a space that blended both indoor and outdoor elements, and a greenhouse felt like the perfect choice," Sinthura explains. "It allowed us to be surrounded by nature while still creating an intimate and controlled environment for our ceremony."

The couple's wedding favors—living plants—perfectly reflected their shared passion for nature and growth. "It was a meaningful way to reflect our shared love for nature and growth—both in our relationship and in the world around us," Sinthura says. "It felt personal, intentional, and a perfect extension of who we are as a couple."

Looking back on their special day, Sinthura expresses deep gratitude for their vendors: "I couldn’t thank our amazing vendors enough—they truly made our day seamless. From start to finish, they understood our vision and brought it to life with such care and attention to detail. Each one played a pivotal role in creating the perfect atmosphere, and their professionalism and creativity made the entire process enjoyable. We felt so supported and knew we were in great hands throughout the entire journey."

Sinthura and Kavithan's wedding stands as a beautiful testament to the possibility of honoring deep cultural traditions while still expressing individual creativity and passion.
