Karan Sidhu Photography's journey into the world of photography is a tale of unexpected twists and profound passion. Initially graduating in hotel management and training as a chef, Karan's career path took a dramatic turn when he decided to carry a camera to a friend's wedding. Reflecting on this pivotal moment, Karan shares, "I loved documenting it, one thing led to another and here I am today:)" This serendipitous event marked the beginning of his now 12-year-long career as a photographer, illustrating how life's unplanned moments can lead to one's true calling.

Artistic Philosophy and Style

When asked to describe his photography style, Karan responds with clarity and emotion: "It's soulful and from the heart." This approach is deeply ingrained in every image he captures, striving to document the genuine essence of each moment. His equipment of choice, the Canon mirrorless camera, is a testament to his commitment to quality and authenticity. He keeps his post-processing minimal, typically doing just basic color correction in Lightroom, to ensure that the true colors and emotions of the day remain untouched and real.

Personal Connection to Photography

For Karan, photography is more than just a profession—it's a heartfelt pursuit. He explains, "Witnessing familial love something which I lacked in my personal life probably why I chose this profession in the first place." This personal connection drives his unique perspective on wedding photography, not just capturing events, but immortalizing moments of love and connection that resonate with his own desires and experiences.

Karan's method of working with clients goes beyond traditional photographer-client interactions. He states emphatically, "I don’t come on board as a photographer or a service provider, when a client signs me on, I come on board as family and that’s how I like it." This philosophy ensures a deeper understanding and integration into the family's dynamics, which helps him capture more intimate and candid moments—those that truly matter.

Operational Scope and Advice for Clients

Handling 30 to 40 weddings per year, Karan is comfortable with the intensive demands of wedding photography. He offers guidance to clients, suggesting, "Keep it real and keep it simple, don’t try and follow too many trends cos they don’t age well. Nothing beats the grace and beauty of simplicity." His advice reflects his broader philosophy of authenticity and timeless elegance in photography.

Approach to Destination Weddings

Though Karan's work takes him across the globe, he maintains a unique perspective on destination weddings: "We shoot weddings all over but I don’t know if we have a favourite destination. It’s the people that make a wedding, not a place." This statement underscores his belief that the essence of a wedding lies within the emotions and interactions of the people involved, not merely the scenic backdrop of the venue. Every location is a canvas, and the real art is painted by the people in the frame.
