Casi Yost isn’t just a wedding photographer; she’s a storyteller with a vision rooted in art and emotion. She has been transforming love stories into breathtaking visual legacies for almost a decade. Her approach, a harmonious blend of photojournalism, editorial elegance, and fine art, has become the hallmark of her unique style.
“I started in photography in college—my first class was film photography, and I have been hooked ever since,” Casi shares. That passion quickly became a career when friends asked her to capture their weddings. “It was all I could talk about to my husband. He encouraged me to follow my passion, and I haven’t looked back since then.”
Casi’s journey into photography is deeply personal, influenced by her family and the value of preserving memories. “After my grandmother passed away” she explains. That experience shaped her desire to create meaningful keepsakes for others.
Her ability to see beauty in the smallest details makes her work so captivating. “I feel like my style is at the intersection of photojournalism, editorial, and fine art. I appreciate and take parts of each style and use it when it is appropriate through the wedding day.”
Casi’s toolkit reflects her dedication to artistry. “Mostly film cameras, but a couple of digital as well. I am not loyal to any one brand—I use what gets me the results I am hoping for,” she notes. Her arsenal includes the Canon R6, Fujifilm GFX 100, Contax 645, Holga, and Canon 1v.
When it comes to post-processing, Casi stays true to the authentic feel of her work. “I try to minimally edit my digital images so they match my film. I always send my film to Indie Film Lab or PhotoVision, and they use the Noritsu scanner to ensure my film always comes out consistent.”
What Casi loves most about her craft is its lasting impact. “There are endless answers, but to boil it down into two things: I want to leave some kind of impact behind when I leave this world, and I feel the need to create art.”
This philosophy shapes how she works with clients. “I think about the relationships that are important to them and focus on making sure I am aware of who these people are on the wedding day,” Casi shares. “Documenting them so the couple can always remember the interactions is important.”
Every couple receives a personalized experience. “I always create something custom for each couple since every wedding is different, and each couple will have unique needs,” she explains.
Casi believes in building trust with her clients. “Review full galleries of your photographer and do a meeting first beforehand so you understand who you are working with and what kind of work to expect from them,” she advises.
“If they put you at ease on the call and you have a good gut feeling and love their work, trust them to do the same for you.”
Casi’s passion for destination weddings is undeniable. “Yes, I take on a few each year. Last year I went to France and have been in love ever since. I am always game for a European wedding.”
