Flowers have long been an expression of love, beauty, and celebration. For Aura Design, they are also a way of telling stories. With a deep passion for floristry and a journey marked by creativity and dedication, Aura Design has become a name synonymous with artistry in wedding floral arrangements. Here, we explore their inspiring journey, creative philosophies, and invaluable advice for couples.
“I started my journey in the floral industry as a flower wholesaler back in 2007, where I developed a deep appreciation for the variety and beauty of fresh blooms,” Aura Design shares. This early experience laid the foundation for a profound love of flowers and the artistry they inspire.
In 2015, Aura Design took a leap of faith and opened a flower shop. “Since then, I’ve found my true passion in wedding floral design,” Grace Clor explains. “There’s something truly magical about weddings, and I feel incredibly honored to be part of each couple’s special day, bringing their vision to life through carefully crafted floral arrangements.”
When asked about the most rewarding part of their work, Aura Design is unequivocal: “There’s nothing quite like the moment when a bride tears up as I hand her the bouquet she’s been dreaming about.” These moments of connection and joy are what make the work deeply fulfilling.
Aura Design adds, “Every wedding is unique, and being trusted to bring a couple’s most important day to life through flowers is incredibly satisfying. It’s also deeply rewarding to know that my work will live on forever in their wedding photos and memories.”
Reflecting on memorable experiences, Aura Design highlights a deeply personal story. “The most significant and meaningful weddings I’ve ever worked on were my two daughters’ special days—one in Florida and the other in Montreal,” Grace Clor shares.
The wedding in Miami, held at the enchanting Vizcaya venue, was a true showcase of their creativity and expertise. “Designing my daughters’ weddings brought us closer together, creating unforgettable bonding moments as we collaborated on every beautiful detail,” Aura Design recalls.
For Aura Design, creativity knows no bounds. “I love incorporating non-traditional elements into wedding floral arrangements as they bring a unique artistic touch to each design,” they explain.
Using materials like fruits, metals, and wood, Aura Design crafts pieces that connect various aspects of nature. “These unexpected combinations transform a simple centerpiece into a striking piece of art on each table,” Grace Clor says.
Aura Design keeps a keen eye on evolving trends. “Roses are still very popular, and delphinium is becoming a favorite for its tall, striking look,” they note. “Many couples want wild, natural arrangements full of bright colors instead of formal designs.” At the same time, simple, modern styles that make a bold statement with minimal flowers are gaining popularity.
“These trends inspire me to mix flowers with unique objects to create fresh, artistic looks,” Aura Design shares.
Choosing wedding flowers can feel overwhelming, but Aura Design offers a reassuring perspective: “Choosing your wedding flowers should be a reflection of who you are. Whether you’re drawn to sleek modern designs, romantic garden blooms, or timeless classic arrangements, your florist should be able to create something that truly captures your personality and love story.”
“I love working with all flowers because it’s so therapeutic,” Aura Design confesses. However, peonies hold a special place in their heart. “There’s something magical about watching a peony bloom, starting as a tight ball and slowly unfurling into layers of delicate petals,” Grace Clor explain.
In many cultures, peonies symbolize prosperity and romance, making them a perfect choice for weddings. “Their soft, full blooms can transform any arrangement into something truly special,” Aura Design adds.
Looking back on their journey, Aura Design has valuable advice for those starting out. “I’d tell my younger self to be patient and trust the journey,” Grace Clor reflects. “While passion for floristry is essential, I learned that it’s equally important to take care of the business side of things—something I wish I’d known from day one.”
Mistakes, they say, are part of the process: “Don’t be afraid to make mistakes; they’re valuable learning opportunities. Most importantly, remember that it’s okay to start small and grow steadily. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither is a successful flower business!”
