Some creative journeys begin with a grand plan. Others begin quietly—unexpectedly—guided by heart, family, and the instinct to preserve a beautiful moment. For Ricardo Antunes & Alexandra Casquilho, the creative minds behind MySpecialDay Photography & Videography, it all began this way.

“We captured Alexandra’s brother’s wedding on the sun-drenched island of Corsica,” they share. “What started as a heartfelt family project quickly turned into a lifelong passion for storytelling.”

What they couldn’t have imagined then was how deeply that moment would shape the years ahead—sparking a journey that would take them across Europe, into countless love stories, and ultimately through the emotional experience of planning and living their own wedding.

A Beginning Rooted in Emotion

Their story as creatives stretches back even further.
Ricardo first picked up a camera in 2010, and by 2015 he was already shaping compelling visual narratives as a videographer. But 2017 marked a turning point—when wedding storytelling became their artistic home.

Since then, they’ve documented everything from intimate elopements to grand multi-day celebrations in Europe’s most breathtaking destinations.

And in 2022, life offered a different perspective.

Our own wedding in Portugal gave us a deeper understanding of what it feels like to be on the other side of the lens—the nerves, the joy, the quiet, fleeting moments. That experience continues to inspire how we tell every couple’s story, with empathy, artistry, and heart.

A Style That Breathes Cinema and Timeless Elegance

Ask them how they define their style, and the answer is as precise as their craft:

“Our style blends cinematic storytelling with an elegant, timeless aesthetic. We craft films that feel editorial, sophisticated, and deeply emotional.”

Every frame is designed to evoke—through thoughtful composition, delicate color work, atmospheric audio, and storytelling that honors authenticity.

Tools of the Trade, Emotion at the Core

Their workflow is backed by serious technical mastery:

  • Sony a7siii, Sony a7rV, two Sony a7IV, and Sony FX30

  • A refined lens kit including Sony & Sigma: 70-200mm 2.8, 24-70 2.8, 35mm 1.2, 85mm 1.4, 105mm Macro

  • Blackmagic monitors for impeccable BRAW & ProRes quality

  • A full audio ecosystem of lavs, XLR systems, and recorders

But for them, equipment is simply a bridge.

“We love the art of storytelling—capturing real emotions and transforming them into a beautifully crafted film. Seeing our couples watch their story unfold for the first time… that’s the most rewarding part of what we do.”

Connection Before the Camera

One thing is clear when speaking with Ricardo & Alexandra:
Their process is profoundly intentional.

“From the very first contact, whether it’s through the couple or their planner, we maintain close communication throughout the entire process,” they explain. “Every detail matters.”

Their approach includes:

  • multiple calls or video chats

  • deep conversations about vision, energy, and personality

  • careful planning balanced with room for creativity

  • a shooting script that ensures a seamless, emotion-led flow

“Our goal is always the same: to deliver a film that not only meets expectations but exceeds them.”

Advice for Couples: Be Present, Be You

They’ve witnessed countless wedding days—and one piece of advice rises above all:

“Take a moment to pause and truly soak in your day, it passes faster than you think. The best films and photographs are created when you’re present, relaxed, and simply enjoying the moment with the people you love most.”

Trust—both in the team and in the experience—creates magic.

A Message to Their Younger Creative Selves

Their answer comes with clarity and honesty:

“Trust the process, stay true to your artistic vision, and never compare your journey to anyone else’s. In the beginning, it’s easy to focus on equipment, trends, and perfection, but the most important thing is connection.”

They would have told themselves:

  • Focus on emotion

  • Build meaningful client experiences

  • Understand that every challenge becomes a lesson

  • Believe in your voice

“Growth takes time, but if you pour your heart into your craft and believe in yourself, success will naturally follow.”

Destination Lovers at Heart

Yes—they do destination weddings. And yes—they have a favorite.

Lake Como :)

A simple answer, full of joy.

Europe continues to be their playground of inspiration—Sweden, Italy, France, Portugal, and beyond.

A Final Word From Ricardo & Alexandra

They conclude with warmth, gratitude, and unmistakable devotion to their craft:

“We have the privilege of capturing love stories both in Sweden and across Europe’s most enchanting destinations. Each film we create is a reflection of our couple’s unique story, crafted with heart, intention, and an eye for refined beauty. Our greatest purpose is to create films that not only document your wedding, but allow you to feel it, now and for generations to come.”
