For the founder of Over the Moon, the journey into wedding planning wasn’t always a straight path. Her career began in the world of fashion and accessories, where she worked as a product developer and buyer for a startup.
“I set up the product department and did everything from designing a collection together with the designers, setting up a team, making a production planning & budgets, find new vendors, negotiate about prices & contracts etc.”
But it wasn’t until planning her own wedding that something shifted.
“I left the company two months prior to our wedding and at that point I was wondering how people would manage wedding planning and having busy jobs and/or children. I knew I was good at planning… but I could also imagine for many people it would be overwhelming and very stressful.”
It was her husband who first planted the seed. “My (now) husband was actually the one who proposed the idea of becoming a wedding planner... when he came with that idea it felt so logical.”
After the honeymoon, she didn’t look back. “I came up with the name Over the Moon, and from my own experience I wrote down a wedding planning process. I made my website, started an Instagram, and went live.”
What began as a modest goal—three weddings in her first year—quickly bloomed into a fully booked calendar with ten weddings right out of the gate.
One of the first things you notice about Over the Moon is the deep commitment to both aesthetic beauty and emotional resonance.
“We believe that love is the heart of every beautiful wedding. It’s about creating an intimate moment where you, surrounded by your loved ones, forget the outside world and focus on the love you share.”
The company’s visual signature draws from her background in design. “Our approach blends modern elegance with classic touches, ensuring a timeless look and feel.”
But beneath the beauty lies substance. “I love that it's so diverse. I am someone who thrives on change & deadlines… and let’s not forget; people are happy and in love! There's a lot of positivity and I really enjoy that.”
Over the Moon’s portfolio includes breathtaking events, but it’s the emotional moments that stay etched in memory.
“Last summer we had a beautiful ceremony where the ceremony was so beautifully curated by the best friend of the couple; she was telling their love story while a pianist was playing on the background and then she would sing The Sweetest Taboo from Sade and the couple was dancing at the same time.”
Another favorite? “The wedding where we transformed a tennis field into a dreamy dinner & party venue. It took the styling team a week to build up everything but it's so amazing when you see coming your ideas to life.”
Over the Moon focuses exclusively on full-service weddings to ensure every client receives her complete attention and expertise.
“We love to be involved from the beginning so we can really help couples the best we can and we only take on a certain amount of weddings per year so we can also really give them the service they need.”
Occasionally, they accept styling or coordination-only weddings on a case-by-case basis—particularly during the off-season or with last-minute requests.
Planning always begins with deep collaboration. “We always start with getting input from them, visually but also by asking them certain questions… it's just a really close cooperation you have with your couple.”
Navigating budgets can be challenging, but the approach is always grounded in honesty.
“I am a very realistic person and always ask people immediately what their budget is, how many people they want to invite and if they have some visual input… I just want to give them a clear and honest picture.”
After nearly nine years in the business, she’s also learned the importance of self-preservation. “You want to help people as best as you can but sometimes you also cross your own boundaries. Since I've been doing this now for nearly 9 years, I became better at it.”
Over the Moon is no stranger to some of Amsterdam’s most refined settings, including Huize Frankendael, Rosewood Amsterdam, and de Durgerdam.
But when asked about her dream wedding location?
“I would love to organize a wedding in Mallorca. I was there in October for venue visits and it's just amazing. I loved Es Raco with its beautiful design but also Finca Comassema is a beautiful venue with amazing views.”
For couples embarking on the planning journey, her advice is crystal clear:
“Honestly, get a planner… We are there to guide you through the process, to already make a selection of venues/vendors/choices etc so you don't need to send 1000 emails and make phonecalls. And of course, we are there on the day itself—you just only need to be there and enjoy every minute.”
And for aspiring planners?
“Do what feels natural for you. Do you. Wedding planning is a very personal job. Couples choose you because they feel a connection with you. It's only going to work if you're really doing it from the heart.”
