For Anne Jang, the world of weddings has always been close to home. “My mother owned a beauty salon where she rented wedding dresses and did bridal makeup, so I grew up surrounded by brides, dresses, and the beautiful emotions of wedding days,” she recalls. Those early experiences planted the seed for her lifelong fascination with love stories and their celebration.
“I’ve been fascinated by weddings since I was a child,” Anne says.
After entering the wedding industry in 2008, Anne officially launched Ryohan + Anne Jang in 2012, bringing her unique aesthetic and deep emotional understanding to every celebration she creates.
“What I love most about my job is that I can express myself artistically through weddings,” Anne shares. For her, each event is more than a gathering — it’s a creative composition. “Each wedding is like creating a new piece of art — a chance to imagine, design, and bring something beautiful to life.”
Her passion lies in translating emotion into design. “It’s deeply rewarding to take part in the happiest moment of two people’s lives and to help them celebrate their love in a way that feels truly unique and meaningful,” she says. This philosophy is what defines the identity of Ryohan + Anne Jang — where beauty meets purpose and every detail tells a story.
Anne doesn’t believe in “one-size-fits-all” packages. “We mostly work through customized designs rather than fixed packages,” she explains. “Every couple has their own story, personality, and vision, so we tailor everything to match their needs and style.”
Her service typically includes wedding planning and direction, space design, floral decoration, program coordination, and styling — but she emphasizes that flexibility is key. “It really depends on each couple and their specific needs. Since every wedding is unique, we’re always open to adding extra services when requested — as long as it’s something we can realistically and beautifully provide.”
“Our goal is to make the entire experience seamless and meaningful for the couple,” she continues. “We do our best to accommodate their wishes whenever possible.”
Anne’s creative process begins long before the decorations or logistics. “My planning process always begins with an in-depth conversation with the couple,” she says. “I take time to truly understand their personalities, preferences, relationship, and the special moments that define their story.”
From there, she gathers inspiration and “keywords” that form the conceptual backbone of the design. “When I design the concept, I combine their personal story with my creative vision to craft a wedding that feels both meaningful and unique,” Anne explains.
Collaboration is central to her method. “After that, I work with various teams — from design and florals to production and styling — carefully selecting the right partners to bring the vision to life.” She adds, “On the wedding day, I personally oversee every detail to ensure that everything flows seamlessly and beautifully.”
Anne finds endless inspiration in new spaces. “We work in a wide variety of venues — there’s no single location we focus on,” she says.
She’s staged weddings in private homes, galleries, traditional hanoks, open fields, and even bare ground where everything is built from scratch. “We’ve also designed weddings in warehouses and industrial-style studios, where the raw, open spaces give us endless creative possibilities,” she adds. “I love how each unique location allows us to completely transform the atmosphere and create a one-of-a-kind wedding that reflects the couple’s personality and story.”
When it comes to working with vendors, Anne believes that alignment is everything. “When couples work with other vendors, I always tell them that the most important thing is harmony and alignment,” she explains. “It’s essential to choose vendors who can collaborate smoothly, share a similar style or vision, and maintain good communication and coordination throughout the process.”
As the planner, she takes charge of creating that synergy. “Since I oversee and direct every aspect, I advise couples to work with partners who can trust the overall direction and move together as a team,” she says. “A great wedding happens when everyone — from the florist to the photographer — works in sync toward one shared vision.”
For Anne, preparation is everything — especially when it comes to weather. “Weather is always one of the things we stay most mindful of — especially rain,” she says. “When planning an outdoor wedding, we always make sure that the venue has an indoor dining area or at least a space where a tent can be installed if needed.”
But she also encourages couples to embrace the beauty in unpredictability. “These days, even weddings held under umbrellas in the rain can be incredibly romantic and beautiful,” she smiles. “What truly matters is ensuring that the dining and post-ceremony areas are safe, comfortable, and reliable no matter the weather.”
Throughout her years in the industry, Anne has learned that one of the greatest challenges isn’t logistical — it’s emotional. “One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced as a wedding planner is when couples struggle to fully trust and let go,” she admits. “I completely understand their anxiety — it’s their once-in-a-lifetime moment — but sometimes their worries or fixed ideas make it difficult for us to fully express our creativity and vision.”
“There are times when couples insist on doing something a certain way, even when, from a professional perspective, it may not be the best choice,” she adds. “In those moments, it can be quite challenging to gently persuade them while maintaining the relationship and ensuring the best outcome.”
Anne approaches budgeting as another form of creativity. “The most important advice I give to couples about budgeting is to decide where to focus and where to simplify,” she says. “Trying to balance everything equally often leads to results that feel neither here nor there.”
Her recommendation is simple but powerful:
Timelines, Anne says, must feel natural and engaging. “When creating a wedding timeline, especially in Korea, one of the most important things to consider is the shorter ceremony duration compared to other countries,” she explains. “Typically, the ceremony lasts about one hour, followed by a three-hour reception — meaning the entire event is quite compact.”
Because of this, she focuses on energy and flow. “It’s crucial to make sure there are no empty or dull moments,” she says. “In Korea, if guests feel even a brief sense of boredom, they often leave early. The key is to keep the timeline dynamic and engaging from start to finish.”
Anne’s advice for couples planning their wedding reflects her artistic soul: “Create a celebration that truly tells your story,” she says warmly. “Think about something you both love — a shared passion, a meaningful memory, or even a single keyword that represents your relationship — and let that become the starting point for your concept.”
“When your wedding reflects who you are as a couple, it becomes much more than just an event; it becomes an experience filled with authenticity and emotion,” she continues. “Guests can feel that sincerity too — they don’t just attend, but deeply connect with and celebrate your love in a more heartfelt way.”
Anne’s creativity extends beyond traditional boundaries. “One thing I’d love to add — something that hasn’t been mentioned yet — is my recent focus on AI-driven wedding art,” she says. “As both a wedding planner and an AI artist, I create AI-generated artworks of weddings that don’t exist in reality — at least, not yet — but look strikingly realistic.”
She finds this new form of creativity deeply inspiring. “These are imaginative and almost impossible concepts that push the boundaries of what weddings can be,” she explains.
Anne’s eyes are firmly set on the future of wedding art. “It’s fascinating to see how imagination can turn into reality,” she says. “I believe AI can open new creative doors in the wedding world, encouraging people to dream bigger and explore beyond what seems possible.”
