For Angelic, founder of Anela Events, the journey into wedding planning began not just with a passion—but with a purpose.
“Wedding planning to Anela Events is an opportunity to tell our couple’s love story through their wedding day,” she explains. “This inspired me to start my own business in 2017.”
What began as a personal pursuit quickly grew into a brand known for heartfelt service and artistic precision. The name Anela, meaning Angel in Hawaiian, reflects that very mission. “Angels appear to those in need in order to comfort and lead them,” she shares. “Anela Events is derived from this exact concept—to service those in need of planning their special day.”
Angelic’s love for design and art had always been a part of her, but it was during her own engagement in 2016 that everything shifted.
“I was inspired to start my own company in designing and planning weddings and special events,” she recalls. With friends getting engaged around the same time, she seized the moment. “My first wedding began with all my friends getting engaged. It was my opportunity to get my foot into the door of the wedding industry.”
Her early days were a hands-on learning experience: shadowing planners, organizing styled shoots, and building a network rooted in passion and hustle. “It really started from a college girl dreaming of starting a wedding planning company to us traveling all over the world assisting our couples.”
Anela Events is far more than logistics and timelines—it’s about connection.
“Our goal is to provide a heartfelt and stress-free process in helping those to develop their seamless vision into a memorable event,” Angelic emphasizes.
The brand specializes in coordination, wedding planning, and decoration. With expertise across California, Hawaii, and international destinations, every wedding is approached with artistry and empathy.
When asked what she loves most about planning weddings, Angelic’s response is clear:
“We absolutely love seeing our couple’s wedding vision come to life on their wedding day. From years and months of planning to their reaction—it’s everything.”
Anela Events offers thoughtfully curated packages including Month-Of Planning, Design Planning, Full Planning, and Destination Weddings. “Yes, we can create a custom package for our couples!” she adds. “Most of our packages are viewed on our website, but personalization is always welcome.”
Among the many weddings Anela Events has brought to life, one stands out in particular.
“Our most memorable wedding ever planned was when our team traveled to Europe to get our couples married at The Vatican,” Angelic shares. “We celebrated in a villa with their loved ones. It was so awesome seeing it all unfold from planning across the country and being in the beautiful city of Rome.”
That once-in-a-lifetime event reflects the team’s dedication to going above and beyond—no matter the distance.
Planning a wedding can be complex, but for Anela Events, the secret is simple: communication.
“Communication is key when planning with our clients,” she explains. “We feel that the most success we get in a wedding is when the couple over-communicates what they want and what they want us to achieve.”
It’s that level of attentiveness that builds trust—and delivers results.
Anela Events frequently works in breathtaking locations, including two standout venues in Hawaii: Lanikuhonua and Paliku Garden.
“There’s something magical about those places,” Angelic notes. “They offer such natural beauty and are the perfect backdrop for intimate, elegant celebrations.”
Even the most beautiful locations come with challenges. “The biggest challenge we’ve faced? Guest count increases—or the weather in Oahu,” she says. “We have to pivot quickly if it begins to rain.”
But the Anela Events team is known for their calm under pressure, always finding solutions to protect the couple’s vision.
Navigating a wedding budget can feel daunting, but Angelic offers strategic guidance.
“Prioritize what is most important in the budget,” she advises. “If the couple truly wants something over budget, there’s always a way to navigate within the budget—or we can search for a vendor who can create what they want based on their budget.”
“Hire a professional planner,” she says without hesitation. “That way, couples can relax and enjoy the engagement season.”
It’s advice born from years of experience and a deep understanding of what makes weddings joyful—not stressful.
Reflecting on her journey, Angelic offers this advice to her younger self:
“Trust the process and keep going. Even when times get tough, in the end it’ll be worth it.”
As for her dream venues? “Castles in Europe and villas,” she says. “There are just so many to choose from!”
