With a background that might surprise most, the founder of SoCo 36 Events began her career not in event planning, but in dentistry. Precision, care, and an appreciation for the smallest details were second nature long before wedding design entered the picture.
“In 2023, I launched SoCo 36 Events to bring that same intentionality to wedding planning, creating streamlined, design-forward experiences with a refined, curated touch,” she shares.
The spark came during a season when friends and family were getting married. Beautiful weddings surrounded her, but they often felt interchangeable. “I saw a need for events that didn’t just look good but felt personal. I wanted to design weddings that told each couple’s story through thoughtful details that reflect who they are, where they come from, and what they value.”
That belief became the cornerstone of SoCo 36. Today, her team crafts celebrations across the country, from timeless Ohio venues to dreamy destination settings.
When asked what she loves most about wedding planning, she doesn’t hesitate:
“What I love most is the transformation. Taking a couple’s story, style, and vision and bringing it to life in a way that feels effortlessly them. It’s in those quiet moments—a bride taking a deep breath before walking down the aisle, a couple seeing their reception space for the first time—where all the behind-the-scenes work becomes magic.”
SoCo 36 operates on a clear philosophy: weddings should never be surface level or recycled.
“At SoCo 36 Events, we believe a wedding should feel like an extension of who you are. Every event is a balance of clarity and creativity, built with precision and led with heart. “It’s hard to choose just one! Every wedding we plan is memorable because it’s uniquely reflective of the couple. No two are ever the same, and that’s exactly what makes this work so meaningful to us.”
Her approach blends phase-based planning with intentional design. “We break the process into clear, manageable steps so nothing feels overwhelming. From there, we listen closely to each couple’s style, story, and priorities, then translate that into a look that feels elevated, cohesive, and entirely their own.”
One recurring challenge is when couples bring in a planner late in the process. “While well-intentioned, it can make it more difficult to allocate their budget strategically or align decisions with their overall vision. We always encourage bringing in a planner early, not just to manage logistics, but to ensure every choice supports the big picture.”
On budgets, she is equally candid:
“We help our couples stay on budget by being honest and realistic from the very beginning. Transparency allows us to prioritize intentionally, make informed decisions, and ensure every dollar is working toward the experience they actually want.”
Her advice to couples currently planning? “Stay rooted in what matters most to you. It’s easy to get swept up in trends or everyone else’s opinions, but the most memorable weddings are the ones that feel personal and intentional. Trust your vision, trust your team, and remember—this day is about the two of you.”
Reflecting on her own journey, she offers a note to her younger self:
“Trust your instinct, even when the path doesn’t look like everyone else’s. Your eye, your voice, and the way you care—those are your superpowers. Stay rooted in service, lead with confidence, and don’t be afraid to take up space. The right clients will find you when you show up as your whole self.”
And the dream venue? “We’re endlessly inspired by venues with rich character and history—timeless estates, romantic châteaux, old-world mansions with layered architecture and a sense of place. Designing within spaces that already have a story allows us to create weddings that feel both elevated and deeply rooted in atmosphere.”
