Amanda Costa Thompson never imagined her career would shift from architecture to wedding planning—until she lived through her own celebration. “It was amazing, but I really got to understand both physically and mentally how much it takes to organize a celebration that is rich in detail, and that had a lot of challenges when it came to logistics,” she recalls.
That realization changed everything. “I was completely exhausted when it was all done and wasn’t able to be as present as I would have wished, so from that day on I decided to help couples have the best day ever, where they can be present and enjoy it all.”
Born in Norway, with a Brazilian mother and an English father, Amanda has always been shaped by culture and language. “I speak six languages, which has been such a gift in this career—it allows me to connect deeply with couples from all over the world.”
Amanda’s philosophy is rooted in authenticity. “Our goal is to create the framework that truly reflects the couple’s personality, love and aspirations,” she explains. For her, weddings are not only about design but about creating a reflection of the couple’s story.
“It is the personal touch, dedication to detail and care that makes our weddings truly stand out,” she says. Every element, from cuisine to entertainment, is carefully chosen. “From exquisite cuisine to the most fun entertainers, I inspire my creative partners to exceed all expectations.”
Her devotion to clients is absolute. “I will do whatever it takes for our clients for them to have their dream day, which is why our clients love to work with us.”
For Amanda, the highlight of wedding planning is seeing it all come to life. “I love getting to know our couples and to see their vision coming to life,” she shares. “From all the details throughout the planning to seeing it all in real life on the wedding day and then seeing their faces when they see it all is just such a special feeling.”
These moments fuel her passion. “Everything we do is bespoke and tailored down to the smallest detail to reflect the couple's personality, style and celebration that they want.”
Amanda admits that weddings are never without challenges. “Last minute changes are always challenging, but we handle them,” she says. She recalls one particularly intense project: “We did take over a wedding where it was 3 months prior to the wedding date and a lot of open ends, with 3 days of events, but we managed to give them an unforgettable celebration with a bespoke design, which was an incredible challenge, but so fun to pull through.”
Her ability to embrace the unexpected and turn it into beauty is what couples treasure most.
Amanda and her team offer full planning and design services, customized for each couple. “We are a full planning and design team that creates bespoke events from start to finish,” she explains. No two weddings are ever the same, because no two couples are.
She also guides couples through the often-daunting financial decisions. “We help our couples choose between the various options nice and early in the planning process. The many choices can feel overwhelming, but leaving things undecided tends to drive up costs. We guide our clients through the key choices at an early stage, as this puts us in a better position to align choices with their budget.”
Amanda plans weddings across Scandinavia and Europe, with a special love for the South of France. “Every venue is chosen carefully to each and every couple,” she emphasizes.
Still, one dream remains personal. “My husband and I had our honeymoon at Capri, Italy, and stumbled upon an incredibly charming spot for a wedding ceremony, with gorgeous views of the ocean. We agreed then and there that we would renew our vows there at some point, and have a second wedding or anniversary with our closest ones. Our kids weren't born when we got married, so it is a bit of a dream to relive that celebration with them. We have been married for 11 years now, so maybe we'll have our 15-year anniversary there?”
When asked what advice she would give couples in the planning process, Amanda is clear: “Get a wedding planner or some sort of help from a planner. You can also hire just for some hourly consultation which can be very helpful to get an overview. Start early, and do tasks along the way. Get an overview of what is needed to do, and don't postpone tasks to the end.”
Amanda’s path has been one of dedication, perseverance, and love. Reflecting on her career, she shares: “Work hard and keep at it. It's not an easy process, but if you love it, just keep on going and it will blossom.”
When she’s not planning weddings, Amanda finds joy in family life and creative expression. “When I'm not traveling or spending time with my family, you can find me on the podcast show, ‘Bride & Joy,’ inspiring wedding couples to create the most magical journey of their lives.”
