Nine years ago, 402 Events took a “major leap of faith” into weddings after falling for the buzz of social outings, city events, and festivals—then diving right into the world of weddings. What began as a solo leap is now an operation with 8 full-time and 10 part-time team members who execute over 100 events a year.
“The thing that inspires us each and every day is the opportunity to push boundaries for the clients that place their love and trust in our hands.”
The team’s backgrounds stretch far beyond events—business management, biology and neuroscience, theatre, arts leadership, social media management, plus deep service-industry know-how—fueling a studio that thinks holistically, plans precisely, and creates fearlessly.
Ask 402 Events to define their ethos and you’ll hear the line that guides every decision:
“Where intentionality meets hospitality.”
“We want to make sure that every single couple feels seen and represented in every decision they make and that our whole process meets and honors their set intentions.”
They love weddings “that have a lot of heart and story behind them!”
From streamlined support to total production, 402 Events covers the spectrum:
Day-of coordination
Design-only
Partial planning
Full-service event planning
Production: lighting, draping, custom builds
“We like to offer a wide range of service types to fit individual needs, but we do not offer custom packages.”
Some briefs are bold. And then there was this one:
“A couple asked us to assist with demolishing their house, re-grading the land, sourcing and installing a custom black and glass tent, and planning every other wedding detail… all within four months.”
It didn’t stop there.
“The timeline was TIGHT and the vision was grand, so it really was like moving mountains to meet their totally unique vision.”
Day-of moments included vows written on Taco Bell bags, a live tattoo artist, flower girls tossing poker chips instead of petals, and a HUGE fireworks show to close the night.
“Totally unique and memorable.”
402 Events tailors the journey to the couple’s energy and intent:
“Our approach is all about being fluid and meeting them where they and their intentions are at.”
“Some clients really want to be hands on for every single detail… and some just want to show up and enjoy.”
“We start by really parsing through their dream process and goals, intention setting, and then create a customized game plan… No two weddings or couples are alike, so neither should two processes!”
They work all over Omaha and Lincoln, often at: The Joslyn, The Farnam, The Marriott, Lauritzen Gardens, Arbor Day Farms, Omaha Event Group Venues, and the Cottonwood.
Sticker shock is real—402 Events disarms it with candor and structure.
“Staying on budget is all about deciding on priorities vs flexibilities early on.”
“We engage in numerous budget solely conversations early on… Couples experience a lot of sticker shock, so we work to help by getting them realistic quotes and setting reasonable expectations early on, and then crafting from there.”
Pro tip from the team: decide your goals and intentions together before planning—those choices will steer every decision with confidence.
Markets shift. Prices rise. Expectations evolve.
“The biggest challenge has been meeting clients expectations in a really fast changing event environment, where prices are increasing.”
“We strive to be our clients biggest advocates… one of our core values is transparency.”
They’ve built clear communication structures and nurtured strong relationships to keep the process steady—especially during tough budget conversations.
“Biggest advice would be to be intentional, include each other, and remember your why!”
“Wedding planning isn’t about the best Instagram post or flashiest fireworks show (even though they are fun) it’s about marrying your life partner and creating a life together!”
“I’d say be patient and authentic.”
“It’s easy to feel like you aren’t keeping up so you immediately jump into situations, events, and clients that don’t represent yourself or the brand you are building, so stay true to your core values and know that you are attracting what you put out there.”
“Dream venue would be any Scottish Highlands castle for a whole wedding weekend! All the culture, the drama, and the tartan!”
