“I’ve always been drawn to capturing real moments but giving them a bit of a fashion edge,” Blake Hogge begins. Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, he’s spent the last ten years shaping a signature style that effortlessly bridges editorial aesthetics and heartfelt storytelling. What started as a fascination with documenting authentic emotion naturally evolved into a full-fledged career that merges two creative worlds: fashion and weddings.

Blake’s love for the art form deepened when he entered the bridal fashion scene five years ago. “I like when something feels effortless but still intentional,” he says, describing his approach to composition and posing. That philosophy defines his brand — where documentary realism meets the poise of high-end editorials.

A Decade of Stories and Style

Ten years in the wedding industry have given Blake more than just technical mastery — they’ve given him perspective. “The foundation of my love for being a photographer is building relationships with genuine people,” he shares. His work reflects that warmth, translating connection into art. “The wedding community is filled with artists, and being able to collaborate with talented, like-minded individuals who make couples’ dreams come true is definitely a highlight.”

His signature look? “A swirl of documentary style mixed with high editorial posing.” That blend defines his imagery — cinematic yet honest, composed yet deeply human. Each frame feels intentional but never overworked, capturing moments as they naturally unfold while still carrying an editorial sheen.

Tools of the Trade

Behind every great image is precision — and Blake knows his craft well. For digital, he relies on his Canon R5, keeping an R6 as backup. His love for film photography shines through with his Contax G2 (35mm) and Fuji GA645 (120 film) — and recently, he’s added the Pentax 645N to his collection.

His lenses of choice — Canon 28–70mm f/2.0 and Canon 85mm f/1.2 — reflect his focus on depth, tone, and detail. On film, he alternates between 28mm, 45mm, and 85mm lenses to craft the perfect frame.

His editing process remains minimal:

My post-processing workflow is pretty standard. I have a base preset I use for all my images but take away distracting elements when needed. I also shoot film but tend to leave those as is. That’s the beauty of film.

Fashion, Emotion, and Collaboration

For Blake, photography extends beyond a camera — it’s about connection. “I think it’s important to be collaborative with all parties involved with the couple’s vision in mind,” he notes. He believes in clear branding and mutual trust: when a photographer’s style and message are consistent, the right clients naturally align.

He often encourages couples to be open and prepared for their session. “Make a playlist,” he suggests. “Find a photographer you can communicate freely with. Trust creates the best stories.”

And yes, he’s happy to customize. “If clients need a more ‘à la carte’ option, I can create a custom package,” he adds. Flexibility and personalization remain at the heart of his approach.

The Pull of the Runway

Beyond weddings, Blake thrives in the world of fashion. “I also love fashion photography and look forward to going to NYBFW every six months,” he shares. New York Bridal Fashion Week offers him a creative reset — a place where artistry, design, and movement collide. “Working with designers, stylists, and press, documenting shows for a whole week is where my true passion lies.”

That influence is visible in his work — brides often appear like they’ve stepped out of an editorial spread, yet the emotion feels deeply personal. “I am very much interested in the bridal fashion scene,” he adds.

I attend bridal fashion week every six months in New York to work with a variety of designers to showcase their new collections.

Destination Dreams

His passion for travel keeps him inspired and grounded. “I do destination weddings,” he confirms with enthusiasm. “Right now, I’d have to say it’s a tie between Switzerland and New Zealand.” Both destinations capture what Blake seeks in photography — vast landscapes, natural light, and unfiltered emotion.

The Heart of His Art

At the core of Blake Hogge Photography lies a simple truth: connection builds beauty. Whether he’s capturing a tearful first look in the Alps or a couture gown gliding down a New York runway, his artistry bridges intimacy and grandeur.

He doesn’t just take photos — he curates experiences, blending the spontaneous and the styled, the modern and the timeless. His imagery doesn’t ask to be looked at; it asks to be felt.
