What started as a fascination with observing people and emotions quickly evolved into a full-fledged career in photography. My name is Serafín Castillo, and I’m a wedding photographer based in Spain, though much of my work takes me around Europe and beyond.
Over the past decade, he’s captured celebrations across Spain, Europe, and internationally, bringing to life a distinct vision: storytelling infused with artistry, minimalism, and emotion.
Asked to describe his approach, Serafín pauses thoughtfully. “I would describe my photography style as artistic, emotional, and minimalist. I focus on capturing genuine moments in a timeless way, with close attention to light, composition, and subtle details.”
His inspiration lies not only in grandeur but in the everyday. “What inspires me most is the beauty of the everyday and the magic hidden in the chaos of a wedding day—the unplanned, imperfect moments that reveal something deeply real.”
It’s this balance—between documentary realism and fine art aesthetics—that has made his work instantly recognizable.
As a Canon ProMaster in Spain, Serafín relies on the brand for his professional gear. Flexibility and intimacy define his choices. “I rely on a versatile zoom lens for moments when flexibility is key, and then I switch to a set of prime lenses depending on the mood or situation.”
But his love of film remains just as important. His Contax G1 accompanies him often. “I love how analog photography brings a different rhythm and texture to a wedding day—it slows me down and adds a unique, timeless quality to the final collection.”
Consistency and authenticity guide his editing.
My post-processing is very minimal and always guided by the idea of keeping the image timeless. Enough to highlight the emotion and atmosphere of the moment, but never to make the photo feel artificial.
The philosophy carries over from his film work to his digital collections, ensuring that couples will look back on their wedding photographs decades later and still find them true.
When asked what he enjoys most, Serafín’s answer is simple yet profound: “What I enjoy most about being a photographer is being able to witness and capture real, unrepeatable moments. There’s something magical in observing the little gestures, the laughter, the quiet emotions—especially in the midst of a wedding’s beautiful chaos.”
His philosophy is not just about images, but memory. For him, photography means transforming fleeting instants into heirlooms.
Collaboration is at the core of his client relationships. “I start by really listening to the couple—understanding their vision, their personalities, and what moments matter most to them.”

Preparation, he believes, starts with presence. “I always encourage couples to focus on enjoying the day and being present, because the best photos come from natural, authentic moments.”
Practical steps matter too—time for portraits, thoughtful lighting, curated locations. He often prepares a moodboard before the wedding, so couples feel aligned with his vision. Above all, Serafín urges couples to trust the process.
Yes—destination weddings are part of his world. “I’ve photographed weddings across Spain, Europe, and beyond, and I enjoy adapting to each culture and environment.”
Though every location has its own allure, Serafín admits to a special fondness for coastal settings: “I’m particularly drawn to coastal locations with natural light and stunning landscapes, as they allow me to combine my minimalist and artistic style with the beauty of the surroundings.”
