“My photography style is timeless, romantic, and true to color with an editorial touch.”
For over 17 years, Allison—the visionary behind Kismet Visuals & Co—has been capturing the subtle poetry of love through her lens. From intimate backyard vows in Columbus to elegant destination affairs bathed in sunshine, she transforms fleeting moments into heirloom imagery. With a background in graphic design and a heart for storytelling, Allison blends technical mastery with an intuitive, soulful approach that makes her work unmistakably her own.
Before founding Kismet Visuals & Co, Allison spent years immersed in the world of graphic design. “I actually started out as a graphic designer,” she shares, “but I quickly realized that storytelling through imagery was where I truly came alive.” That realization planted the seeds for what would become an award-winning career behind the camera.
Over nearly two decades, she’s built a name that’s synonymous with artistry, intention, and authenticity. Her work has graced publications like Martha Stewart Weddings, Carats & Cake, and Destination I Do, and she’s been honored as “Best of Columbus” by peers and couples alike. Since 2018, she’s also lent her creative vision to The Scout Guide Columbus, where she brings brand stories to life with the same emotional clarity as her wedding galleries.
Allison’s artistic voice is rooted in connection and elevated by restraint. “I focus on natural light, authentic moments, and refined details to create images that feel effortless, elevated, and enduring,” she explains. Her editorial background shines through in her composition and colorwork, yet every image carries a warmth and sincerity that keeps it grounded in the couple’s story.
She uses Sony mirrorless cameras for digital work and incorporates film photography—both medium format and 35mm—into her workflow. “Film slows me down in the best way,” she says. “It helps me stay intentional and gives select moments that timeless, nostalgic feel.”
When it comes to post-production, Allison is all about balance. “My editing style is true to life with subtle, film-inspired characteristics,” she notes. “I aim to preserve natural tones while adding a soft, timeless feel that reflects the emotion and atmosphere of the day.”
There’s no heavy-handed retouching, no trendy filters—just honest imagery with a classic sensibility. The result is a portfolio that stands the test of time and feels as fresh ten years from now as it does today.
Ask Allison what she loves most about her work, and she doesn’t hesitate. “What I enjoy most about being a photographer is connecting with my couples and having the honor of documenting their joy and biggest life moments,” she says. “It’s a privilege to preserve memories that will be cherished for generations.”
That connection-first approach defines her client experience. “I take a supportive, laid-back approach to help my clients feel as comfortable as possible,” she explains. “My goal is to create a relaxed environment so they can be fully present in the moment, allowing me to capture their story naturally and authentically.”
Beyond weddings, Allison is an educator, mentor, and passionate advocate for the photography community. “Surrounding yourself with a strong creative community makes all the difference—community over competition, always,” she says.
She actively invests in her peers through workshops and mentorship programs, uplifting others with the same generosity and care she brings to her couples.
Yes—she travels. And she thrives on it. “I love photographing destination weddings! I’m especially drawn to places filled with sunshine, natural beauty, and charm,” Allison says. “A dream location would be to shoot a wedding in the Hamptons.”
Her ability to adapt, observe, and celebrate each setting allows her to create magic no matter the location—whether it’s the rolling vineyards of Napa or a golden-lit coastal ceremony in Charleston.
To creatives just starting out, Allison shares this: “I’d tell myself to keep practicing and focus on building genuine connections within the industry.” Her advice for couples? “Don’t overthink it. Trust the professionals you’ve hired so you can relax and be fully present. The best photos happen when you’re simply enjoying the moment.”
Every couple is different, and so is every wedding. “Yes, I create custom packages,” Allison confirms. “I want the experience to reflect each couple’s unique priorities and vision.”
This personalized approach ensures that no two galleries are alike—just like no two love stories are the same.
In a world that often favors trends over truth, Kismet Visuals & Co is a reminder that honest artistry never goes out of style. With every shutter click, Allison captures something more than just images—she captures soul.
And for the couples lucky enough to work with her, that’s exactly what makes the experience unforgettable.
