Liselotte Van Tittelboom, the founder of Studio Leau, didn’t start her career as a photographer. In fact, she comes from a marketing background where she worked as a Brand Manager. But her passion for fashion and people led her down an unexpected path. That is what originally sparked my interest in photography,” she says.
While working full-time, Liselotte began to explore photography, and it wasn’t long before she realized she had found her calling. "As soon as I started photographing, I discovered that this was my true passion and apparently also something I turned out to be quite talented at. My photography business skyrocketed within 2 years and I haven't looked back ever since," she shares.
Liselotte’s photography style is distinctive and bold. She describes it in her own words as "Filmic Photography for Fun and Fashion-Loving Lovers." She elaborates on this approach: "I think of it as a unique blend between more fashionable, posed, and editorial images and spontaneous, fun, and genuine images. I call it high bridal photography. Images that are high fashion AND high on emotion. Images for Main characters! :-)” Her ability to balance high-fashion aesthetics with heartfelt moments sets her apart in the wedding industry, ensuring each image tells a story that’s both stylish and emotional.
For Liselotte, high-quality equipment is an essential part of her workflow. “I work with Canon and Profoto. 2x Canon EOS R5, with a set of RF lenses (primes and zoom),” she explains, adding that she also uses Profoto on- and off-camera flashes and light modifiers to control every lighting situation perfectly.
She’s a firm believer in post-processing every image with the same level of care that she applies during the shoot. “All my images get edited individually to achieve the highest quality possible,” she emphasizes. This meticulous process starts with selecting the “hero” images of the day and then applying color correction, cropping, straightening, and removing any distractions.
“My style is very true to colour and real life. I think it is important that if you spend a lot of money on your wedding day, that your images reflect what your day really looked like and do not have any colored filters on them that will soon become outdated,” she says.
It’s not just the technical aspects of photography that keep Liselotte passionate about her work. Her love for interacting with clients is a core part of her approach. “There are two things that I adore about my job,” she reveals. “First is working with people. I get a lot of energy from meeting and interacting with new people. Being able to share one of the most memorable days of their lives together really is a privilege that makes me super happy and incredibly thankful for my job.” She continues, “Second is being creatively challenged. I love creating. I love being challenged by the fast pace of a wedding day and the different (lighting) situations during the day. I really get a high when I can still create the artful images that I have in my head for my couple. Making 'art' is at the core of my being.”
Liselotte’s ability to connect with her clients goes beyond simply taking their photos. "During the wedding day I am more than just their photographer. I am their best friend that helps them carry things, coach them through emotional moments, makes them drink water, handles possible issues," she shares. This personal touch helps couples feel at ease, resulting in more authentic and relaxed photos.
"Being a people person, I tend to blend in really well with the wedding crowds which makes it easy for me to create more spontaneous images because everyone feels at ease," she adds.
Liselotte takes a highly collaborative approach when working with her couples, starting with multiple calls to fully understand their vision. “Once they book me as their wedding photographer, I also share - on a monthly basis - wedding tips and tricks with them to help them plan their wedding,” she explains. She provides guidance not just on photography but also on ways to make the entire wedding day flow smoothly.
Moodboards are another essential part of the process. “We often create moodboards together to make sure that I know very well beforehand what the expectations of my couples are in terms of desired images,” she explains. This ensures that when the wedding day arrives, there are no surprises—just beautifully crafted photos that align perfectly with the couple’s vision.
While Liselotte is based in Belgium, her heart is in destination weddings, particularly in Italy. “I specialize in destination weddings in Italy,” she shares, adding that Puglia is her favorite region. She offers multi-day packages for destination weddings, covering pre-wedding, wedding day, and post-wedding moments.
Her passion for Italy runs so deep that she’s currently learning Italian to better communicate with local vendors and ensure her couples have a seamless experience. “I am also studying Italian for this, to make sure I can help my couples with their communication with local vendors,” she says.
Liselotte has one piece of advice for all of her couples: "If you have certain expectations in terms of photography, make sure you communicate them with your photographer. Create a moodboard to make sure your vision is really clear and to give you something to look back at when you are making decisions during the preparation or even during the photoshoot. Surround yourself with the best vendors in terms of clothing, hair and makeup and photography so we can all support you in being the best version of yourself an create magic together. An experienced team will effortlessly guide you through the shoot, even if you have zero experience."
She adds, “I also encourage my couples to embrace their main character energy. This day is about them. Embrace it. Do not feel afraid to pose and take the moment. This is your day, let's make the most out of it.”
