Not all artistic journeys begin in studios or darkrooms. Some begin in the world of spreadsheets and ledgers.
“I first got into photography in 2013. Even though I had a finance degree and worked in the field for a while, I always felt drawn to something more creative.”
That creative pull became impossible to ignore when Olga Shevchenko and her husband set off on a transformative journey across Asia. With her camera in hand and the world unfolding before her eyes, something shifted.
“My camera became more than just a tool—it became a way to capture the beauty of human connection.”
From that moment on, documenting love stories through her lens became more than a passion. It became her path.
Among the many landscapes she encountered, one country stood out.
“Iceland’s wild landscapes and raw beauty pulled me in,” Olga shares. “It became both my inspiration and my home.”
For Olga, Iceland isn't just a backdrop—it's a character in every love story she captures. From windswept cliffs and volcanic black sand beaches to glaciers and waterfalls, the island adds a depth and elemental power to her work that can’t be replicated.
Through her lens, these untamed landscapes become more than scenery—they become symbols of love, resilience, and connection.
“My photography style is elegant, cinematic, and deeply emotive,” Olga explains. “The images have a moody yet romantic aesthetic, with a strong use of natural landscapes, soft lighting, and a balance between color and black-and-white photography.”
Each image Olga creates is thoughtfully composed, not just visually, but emotionally. Whether it’s a quiet glance, a spontaneous laugh, or a tearful embrace, her camera seeks out the soul in every scene.
Her post-processing process is designed to elevate that feeling:
“My post-processing style enhances the natural beauty and emotion of each moment while maintaining a timeless and cinematic feel.”
With earthy, desaturated tones, soft highlights, and delicate grain, her work feels more like frames from a film than traditional wedding photography.
When it comes to gear, Olga’s choices are precise and intentional.
She uses the Nikon Z6 II, Z6 III, and D850, alongside 35 mm and 50 mm lenses, which allow her to move seamlessly between wide scenic shots and intimate close-ups.
What sets Olga apart isn’t just her artistic eye—it’s her approach to working with clients.
“I take a personalized and collaborative approach to working with clients, ensuring their vision and emotions are at the heart of every image.”
Olga takes time to understand each couple’s story, preferences, and emotional nuances before the session begins. From suggesting outfits to helping choose meaningful locations, she guides her clients while leaving room for organic moments to unfold.
“On the day of the shoot, I focus on capturing authentic moments, allowing them to feel comfortable and present.”
This philosophy translates into images that feel deeply personal and emotionally resonant.
Olga’s guidance for her couples is gentle and grounded:
“Wear something that makes you feel confident and comfortable. Neutral, earthy tones and soft textures photograph beautifully and complement natural settings.”
She also encourages couples to bring meaningful items to the shoot—like heirlooms, florals, or accessories that tell a deeper story.
And most importantly?
“Relax & Be Present: The best photos come from natural, unforced moments. Focus on each other, have fun, and trust me to guide you through the process.”
If Olga could speak to the version of herself just starting out in photography, here’s what she’d say:
“Trust the process and embrace the journey. Focus on refining your unique style rather than trying to please everyone. Invest in education, mentorship, and networking—relationships will take you further than you think.”
She emphasizes the importance of patience and authenticity:
“Be patient with growth, both creatively and in business, and don’t compare your progress to others.”
When asked what she enjoys most about being a photographer, Olga answers without hesitation:
“Being a photographer for me means crafting narratives through visuals, painting a unique story that connects people to individuals or locations. It’s about leaving a lasting impression, stirring emotions, and creating an identification point for clients through unforgettable imagery.”
She pours her heart into every session, working not just as an artist, but as a storyteller and memory keeper.
Though she doesn’t currently take on destination weddings outside of Iceland, Olga finds endless inspiration in the land she now calls home. And for couples drawn to adventure, intimacy, and raw beauty—there’s no better place to begin a love story.
