The road to artistry is rarely a straight path, and for Lindsey Nicole, the twists and turns have only added depth to her creative vision. "I have always had a strong passion for the arts and creativity," she shares. Her journey began in the world of dance, where she honed discipline, movement, and expression as a Division 1 college dancer. From there, she ventured into food science, an unexpected detour that eventually led her to discover the camera—an encounter that changed her life forever. "I believe everything happens for a reason, and I’m so glad my journey led me to where I am now."
Since stepping behind the lens in 2016, Lindsey has developed a signature approach to photography, one that embraces emotion over perfection and authenticity over rigid poses. "My niche is effortless imagery that evokes genuine feeling over forced poses," she explains. "I want every photograph I deliver to be seamlessly editorial without being stuffy and worthy enough to belong in a magazine."
Her work is a harmonious blend of film and digital photography, using the Contax 645 for medium format, the Contax G2 for 35mm, and digital favorites like the Leica Q3 and Sony A7R IV to craft timeless images. The post-production process is just as meticulous: "For my film, I use Richards Photo Lab to process and develop, then I retouch each image to make sure it is exactly my style. After I receive the film and edit, I match all digital images to create a curated and cohesive gallery for my clients."
Photography, for Lindsey, is far more than a profession—it’s about preserving a couple’s legacy for generations. "I absolutely love getting to know my clients and being a part of creating a legacy for them," she says. "Photographs are to be shared throughout lifetimes, and I am so unbelievably honored to be the one behind the lens for those timeless images, which I hope decades from now their family and friends will still be in awe of."
Each journey with a couple begins with an in-depth conversation. "It starts with a phone call. I always want clients who are naturally drawn to my photography and want to work together to make their vision be elevated through imagery." From this connection, Lindsey crafts custom proposals tailored specifically to each couple’s unique vision and needs. "Absolutely! This is a part of my booking process," she confirms. "After they initially inquire, we have a phone conversation where I can learn about their exact wants and needs so I can then create a custom proposal to send out specifically curated for them."
Looking back, Lindsey has learned invaluable lessons on building a career in photography. "Be kind to yourself, don’t hold back, and trust your instincts," she advises. "Being an entrepreneur, especially when starting out, you have a lot of inner dialogue that can be good and bad. We all know the ups and downs you go through in this industry and how competitive it is, so keeping a positive inner voice is always key and sometimes can mean the difference between if you go far or not."
Networking and learning from industry peers have also played a crucial role in her growth. "Meet as many people as you can in the industry and put yourself in the room even if you feel like you don’t belong. Learning from others is one of the greatest strengths you can have throughout your lifetime."
For couples preparing for their big day, Lindsey offers one key piece of advice: "Take time to create looks and find the right locations with your photographer and designer. Be prepared so the day of, you only have to think about having fun and enjoying every moment."
This balance of planning and spontaneity is what makes her work stand out—capturing raw, emotional, and beautifully unfiltered moments.
As a destination wedding photographer, Lindsey’s work takes her across breathtaking locations. "Yes! I am primarily a destination photographer, so I do love to travel." While Aspen holds a special place in her heart, Italy and the Maldives remain dream destinations. "The romance, the landscapes, and the light—it’s all pure magic."
