Roey Yohai’s journey into the world of wedding photography was anything but conventional. Born in Israel and raised in New York City, Roey’s early years were marked by transatlantic moves that cultivated a deep emotional awareness — one that would later become a signature element in his art.

“My family moved back and forth 2 times and somehow this made me develop an emotional sensitivity that binds with the artistic spirit to my work; something that seems highly appreciated from my clients.”

This sensitivity, paired with a formal education in Photojournalism from RIT, laid the groundwork for a career that began in newspapers and newsrooms — covering major events across the United States. Yet despite the thrill of capturing global headlines, Roey found his true calling elsewhere.

“But nothing has captured my heart the way weddings have.”

With over 20 years dedicated to photographing weddings, Roey Yohai Studios has become a staple name in iconic NYC venues and sought-after destinations around the world. From intimate gatherings in Manhattan to opulent celebrations in French châteaux and villas along Lake Como, Roey’s work has appeared in elite publications like Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Goop, Over The Moon, and Inside Weddings.

“I’ve been documenting weddings for over 20 years, mostly in NYC’s iconic venues but also venturing across the globe to Lake Como, French Château’s...”

His portfolio extends beyond just stunning imagery. Roey’s unique combination of editorial finesse and documentary instinct allows him to capture moments that feel lived-in, honest, and fashion-forward — all at once.

A Style That Defies the Ordinary

When asked how he would describe his approach, Roey responds with four simple yet powerful words:

“Documentary. Editorial. Chic. Fun.”

This clean aesthetic is complemented by his fascination with architecture and design, both of which find their way into his compositions through lines, light, and form.

“I’m attracted to (and am always chasing) light & great design, and love architectural photography. I aim to capture refined elegance, hidden moments and the joy of life.”

Every frame from Roey Yohai Studios reveals a thoughtful pursuit of beauty — one that’s rooted in real emotion, yet polished with an editorial sheen.

Building Trust Through Connection

One of Roey’s guiding principles is the importance of client relationships. He believes that every great photograph starts with trust and emotional synergy.

“Our Photographers ideate with our clients before, during and after their wedding to ensure every special detail of their day is beautifully and elegantly captured.”

That connection is often established early on through engagement sessions, which serve as both a creative collaboration and an emotional foundation.

“We also strongly urge our couples to participate in an Engagement Session (or a pre-wedding shoot in the Studio), in order to create synergy with them and really create a bond; this trust is priceless on the wedding day.”

This client-centered approach allows Roey and his team to blend into the background on the wedding day while still catching every major and minor detail with effortless precision.

“Our clients feel totally seen. We cover their story, we do not become the story.”

Storytelling Through Layers

Roey’s team brings more than just technical excellence to a wedding day. They bring nuance — and an ability to wear multiple hats.

“At the wedding day we wear many hats - portrait, detail, fashion, fine art & documentary photography; This takes much skill, training, and emotional intelligence, things we proudly deliver in abundance; it is essential and it gives depth and vibrance to the storytelling.”

Behind every image is a conscious decision — to highlight not just the event, but the people and emotion within it. The result? A visual story that’s elegant, layered, and deeply human.

Crafting Something Custom and Personal

Roey Yohai Studios is known for designing tailor-made photography packages that reflect the couple’s individual needs and preferences.

“Of course and this is what we typically do. We design custom made packages to meet their needs and brainstorm on how to create the best match possible.”

Whether a client dreams of modern glamour or sun-drenched romance, the team ensures they match each couple with the right photographer and vision.

“We have a Team of Photographers that can match a wide range of photography needs.”

Prepping for the Moment

Roey’s advice to couples preparing for their wedding photos is refreshingly intimate: start by sharing your story.

“Just ask them about their favorite places, books and music and movies — get to know them as people. How they met and what they dream about. What are their family bonds and with who. Listen. Everything else will come naturally.”

Many couples come prepared with visual references, which Roey encourages. Whether it’s a Pinterest board or favorite wedding photos from a friend, these tools can serve as creative conversation starters.

“Many times couples show us a Pinterest board of what they like or photos that they collect from all kinds of platforms... It is very helpful in order to visualise what they want and help them prepare.”

Wanderlust and the World

Destination weddings are an exciting part of Roey’s portfolio, and his favorite locations are as romantic as the weddings themselves.

“Definitely! We love photographing in West coast, Italy & France as well as the Caribbean and are open to the whole world!”

One particular highlight? The Greek islands.

“We recently have started booking weddings at the Greek islands, in some gorgeous organic sceneries and private villas that look like paradise. To be seen in 2026!”

The Gratitude Behind the Art

Before closing, Roey reflects on the deeper meaning of his work.

“I need to express how deeply blessed I feel to operate in this industry. I work with truly inspiring people (clients and vendors) and enjoy a solid connection with them. They are always in top priority when our services, expertise and talent are requested for their events and celebrations.”

This spirit of gratitude, connection, and artistic curiosity is what continues to fuel the work of Roey Yohai Studios — one love story at a time.
