For Reid Lambshead, photography has always been intertwined with exploration. His journey began not in studios or formal wedding venues, but in motion — traveling across Southeast Asia with a camera, discovering the world through observation.
“I love to travel and it’s actually how I got started. I spent months exploring Southeast Asia, which led me to attend one of the top art schools and gave me the opportunity to study under some of North America’s best still-life and fashion photographers and art directors.”
This formative period immersed him in the disciplines of commercial photography and editorial composition, giving him a strong creative foundation. Yet over time, he found himself drawn toward something more emotionally meaningful.
“I took that commercial training and the editorial eye I developed, and segued into documenting weddings because I find it to be far more fulfilling and meaningful.”
That shift marked the beginning of a career that has now spanned nearly two decades and countless weddings across the United States, Canada, and destination locations worldwide.
For Reid, photography is not simply about aesthetics. It’s rooted in a deeply personal understanding of time, memory, and presence — shaped profoundly by his life as a husband and father.
“My wife Emily and I have two children: Paige and Wyatt. My world became brighter when they entered it.”
Fatherhood changed how he sees the world and reinforced his desire to preserve moments that pass too quickly.
“I began to see how miraculous and precious life truly was. I found myself longing to live in the present more than ever before, yet realizing how difficult it was.”
This emotional awareness directly informs his work today.
“I desperately wanted to remember how each moment felt, and I knew my own memory would fail me. This longing to hold onto each moment directly influences my approach and why I love capturing weddings.”
His photography becomes an act of preservation — not just of how moments looked, but how they felt.
With 17 years of experience behind the camera, Reid has developed a style defined by contrast and balance — merging fashion-influenced composition with genuine emotional spontaneity.
His images feel both intentional and organic — guided by composition, but never constrained by it.
This balance allows him to move seamlessly between quiet observation and gentle creative direction, creating photographs that feel timeless rather than trend-driven.
Reid’s technical approach reflects his commitment to depth, texture, and artistic nuance. By combining multiple formats, he preserves both precision and emotional softness.
His equipment includes:
Medium format digital cameras for clarity and depth
Full-frame digital systems for versatility and responsiveness
Film cameras for timeless texture and emotional resonance
His editing process remains equally intentional.
Rather than over-processing, his goal is to enhance the natural atmosphere of the day while preserving authenticity.
Reid’s approach goes beyond technical execution. His focus is on creating an emotional environment where couples feel calm, supported, and free to be themselves.
“I take pride in creating a calming, joyful, and relaxed experience for all my couples.”
This emotional atmosphere is essential to capturing authentic imagery.
“This is critical to my approach in keeping them in the moment and creating timeless images.”
He understands that the most meaningful photographs emerge when couples are fully immersed in their experience rather than performing for the camera.
What he values most is the trust clients place in him.
“Being invited into my clients lives.”
This trust allows him to capture moments with honesty and emotional depth.
Recognizing that every wedding is unique, Reid creates custom collections tailored to each couple’s vision and priorities.
“I create custom collections for all my couples!”
This flexibility ensures that every wedding — whether an intimate gathering or multi-day destination celebration — is documented with intention and care.
He encourages couples to embrace authenticity throughout the process.
“Be honest with your photographer, and put your full trust in them — give them the license to create their best work!”
Trust becomes the foundation for meaningful, emotionally honest imagery.
Looking back on his journey, Reid’s advice reflects a philosophy grounded in artistic integrity.
This mindset has allowed him to develop a body of work that feels timeless rather than tied to fleeting aesthetics.
Destination weddings continue to play a central role in his career, fueled by his lifelong love of travel.
“Most of my weddings are destination! I love every opportunity to travel, and travelling to any location is a privilege!”
Through his lens, weddings become more than events. They become emotional archives — preserving the fleeting, fragile beauty of moments that can never be repeated, yet can be remembered forever.
