For Katelyn, the creative spark began early. “I always knew when I was growing up that I wanted to be an artist in some capacity. I fell in love with drawing portraits when I was very young, which later transitioned into a love for photographing people, and blossomed into the wedding photography I am so passionate about now.”
What started as a quiet fascination with faces soon became a life’s work. Her camera became her paintbrush, her medium for translating emotion and connection into tangible, lasting art.
“While I've had a camera in hand most of my life, I started my photography business in 2015, and transitioned to make weddings my primary focus in 2017.” That transition brought her into a world that perfectly mirrored her values—beauty, emotion, connection, and storytelling.
Katelyn’s work is immediately recognizable. Her style blends vibrant color and thoughtful composition with a deeply emotional undertone. She describes her visual language as “heartfelt, colorful, and emotive, captured using a combination of film and digital imagery.”
For her, it's not just about the visual—it’s about the emotional architecture of a moment. “I love to work alongside my team to provide an experience that is sincere, thoughtful, and unobtrusive, resulting in a gallery that takes everything and everyone the couple loves into consideration.”
From grand celebrations to subtle gestures, Katelyn strikes a balance. “I appreciate a beautifully posed portrait and a thoughtfully curated design just as much as a fleeting interaction or fly-on-the-wall moment, and always seek to balance the various components in my work for a well-rounded gallery that will make it easy for the couple and their loved ones to find images that resonate with them.”
To achieve that signature look, Katelyn is intentional about the tools she uses. “I work with both a digital camera system, and a mix of medium format and 35mm film cameras.”
This hybrid approach gives her the flexibility to capture spontaneous moments and the artistic quality of film that she’s always been drawn to.
More than anything, Katelyn’s heart lies with her couples. “I genuinely love getting to meet new people, and wedding photography is unique in allowing me to not only build meaningful and lasting connections with people while celebrating some of the most exciting moments in theirs and their loved ones lives, but also being able to capture and preserve those very moments for them to relive, share, and reminisce on, for what I hope will be generations to come.”
Each gallery isn’t just a product—it’s a legacy.
This personal connection is central to her process. “I like to work closely with my clients and their planning team to develop a personal connection that allows me to best understand their event and individual style, preferences, and priorities.”
She continues, “Weddings are not one-size-fits-all, so I like to tailor the services my couples receive and have the opportunity to build a relationship with them, which allows my team and I to create imagery that is a meaningful documentation of their day, their loved ones, and the things that matter most to them.”
Though she’s based in Kentucky, Katelyn is no stranger to travel. “While we are based in Kentucky, the KVP Team is eager and loves to travel for our clients' weddings, both internationally and domestically, and there will always be a soft spot in our hearts for weddings taking place at a private residence or the rolling hills of a beautiful horse farm.”
