Erica Serrano Photography’s journey into photography started in the picturesque mountains of North Carolina, where she was raised. As she explains in her own words, "I knew right away weddings + love stories would become my favorite to document after I photographed a beautiful wedding in my first year of college." This experience was a turning point, cementing her path as a wedding photographer.
Since that fateful first wedding, Erica has become a seasoned professional, with over 300 weddings to her name and 12 years of experience. "There wasn't a doubt in my mind after that day that I found my calling," she shares, and it’s clear from both her work and her words that this career isn't just a job—it's a passion. "Nothing in the world fuels me like helping create a legacy in the lives of others."
When asked how she would describe her style, Erica is quick to emphasize the deep connection that inspires her work. "The inspiration behind my imagery is rooted from the depth of love I have for relationships," she says. "Connection is everything to me, and I've always been passionate about fostering community and making my people feel valued and seen." This philosophy translates directly into her photography, resulting in what she calls "emotive, timeless, and authentic" imagery.
For Erica, it's not just about snapping photos—it's about creating lasting memories that impact her clients long after the wedding day is over. She’s dedicated to making her couples feel cared for, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. “It is to me that my client's not only feel taken care of throughout our experience but feel impacted by the memories we create together," she says.
Erica's toolkit is as varied as her experiences, seamlessly blending the modern convenience of digital with the nostalgia of film. Her go-to digital cameras include the Canon R5 and Canon Mark III, giving her the flexibility and high resolution needed to capture both candid moments and timeless portraits. But Erica’s love for photography extends beyond the digital world—she often turns to film to add an extra layer of depth to her work. "I also rotate between three film cameras," she explains, listing her trusted Pentax 645N, Fujifilm GA645, and Canon Rebel 2000 as her film favorites.
With over a decade of experience, Erica knows how to strike the perfect balance between capturing a couple’s most intimate moments and managing the logistics of a busy wedding day. She typically limits herself to 15-20 weddings per year, a decision she made intentionally. By limiting the number of weddings she takes on, Erica ensures she has the time and energy to focus fully on each client, providing personalized attention from start to finish.
Erica also offers a flexible range of coverage options, starting with 6 to 8 hours and allowing for customization based on her couples' specific needs. Whether it's an intimate elopement or an extravagant celebration, she works closely with her clients to create custom packages that perfectly suit their vision.
Erica's love for travel has shaped her career in more ways than one. "Destination weddings are my bread and butter!" she exclaims with excitement. Among her favorite destinations is Italy, a place close to her heart for personal reasons. "I'm biased because I also got married there," she admits with a smile, adding that Cabo and London are also standout locations.
Her excitement about traveling extends to new destinations as well, with plenty of locations still on her bucket list. "I'm looking forward to continue knocking off places on my bucket list!" she says, always eager for the next adventure. Whether photographing a Tuscan vineyard, a beach in Cabo, or an urban setting in London, Erica brings her signature blend of authenticity and emotion to each location, capturing both the beauty of the destination and the love shared between the couple.
