Some photography stories begin with a clear plan. Others unfold quietly, shaped by place, timing, and shared courage.
For Fabi and Miguel Guedes, the journey behind Guedes Photographers started six years ago with a move to Central America — and a simple decision to follow curiosity before expectations.

Today, working side by side as a couple, they document weddings with a calm, observant eye, creating imagery rooted in emotion, atmosphere, and authenticity. Their work feels warm without being staged, intentional without being intrusive — a reflection of how they move through a wedding day: present, connected, and deeply human.

From a Life Shift to a Shared Vision

Guedes Photographers is as much a personal story as it is a creative one.

“We’re Miguel and Fabi, the couple behind Guedes Photographers,” they share. “When we moved to Central America six years ago, everything changed. Miguel had always dreamed of becoming a photographer, and that move gave us the space to explore that dream together.”

In the beginning, weddings weren’t the goal. They photographed whatever inspired them — light, people, moments that felt alive. But once they stepped into their first wedding environment, something clicked.

“The energy, the emotion, the humanity of a wedding day — that’s when we knew. It wasn’t just about images anymore. It was about stories, connection, and being present for something meaningful.”

They officially began their photography journey in April 2021, and in just over four years, their voice has grown into something quietly distinctive.

A Style Built on Presence, Not Performance

At the heart of Guedes Photographers’ work is balance.

“Our style blends documentary storytelling with soft editorial direction,” they explain.

We focus on real moments, genuine emotion, and the atmosphere of the day.

Rather than imposing poses or rigid timelines, Fabi and Miguel guide lightly — stepping in only when needed, then allowing space for moments to unfold naturally.

“Less posing, more presence,” they say. “We want the images to feel effortless, honest, and true — like the day as it really was.”

This approach creates photographs that feel lived-in rather than constructed, allowing couples to recognize themselves fully in their galleries.

Tools That Support the Moment, Not Distract From It

Their technical choices are intentionally understated.

“We work with Sony cameras for their reliability and color performance,” they note. “We mainly use prime lenses for intimacy and detail, and a telephoto lens when we want to capture moments from a distance.”

That combination allows them to remain unobtrusive — close enough to feel the emotion, far enough to let it breathe.

“The goal is always to stay out of the way while still creating images that feel close, natural, and expressive.”

Editing With Respect for Reality

Post-production is where their collaboration truly shines.

“Fabi leads the curation process, selecting the images that best tell the story,” they explain. “Miguel focuses on color work and final refinement.”

Their editing philosophy stays grounded in honesty. Light, tone, and balance are adjusted carefully, with small distractions removed only when they pull attention away from the moment itself.

“We do use AI in that part of the workflow,” they add, “but never to alter reality. It’s there to clean and clarify — so the emotion remains the focus.”

What Keeps Them Inspired

Ask what they love most about being photographers, and the answer comes easily.

“The connection with people,” they say. “Every couple, every story, every wedding is different. Our work never feels repetitive.”

Beyond photography itself, it’s the human exchange that fuels their creativity — witnessing vulnerability, celebration, quiet in-between moments, and discovering new places along the way.

“It keeps us inspired and genuinely grateful for what we do.”

Working With Couples, Not Over Them

Their client experience mirrors their photographic approach — collaborative, intuitive, and deeply personal.

“We work side by side with our couples, listening and learning their energy and pace,” they explain. “We direct lightly, observe closely, and let the day breathe.”

Nothing is imposed. Everything is shaped together.

The result is imagery that feels like them — not a version we placed on top of their story.

Because no two weddings are the same, all Guedes Photographers packages are fully customizable, from coverage length to sessions and details.

“Every couple has different needs, and we’re happy to build something that truly fits their day.”

Advice From Experience

Looking back to the early days of their business, their message is clear and grounded.

“Be patient and trust the process,” they reflect. “It’s easy to compare your work or feel pressure to define your style immediately.”

Growth, they believe, comes from staying curious, doing the work, and learning through real experience — not rushing perfection.

“And connection matters more than anything,” they add. “With couples, with vendors, with your community. When you stay connected to people and to your own vision, your business finds its direction naturally.”

Preparing for the Camera: Simple, Honest Advice

For couples preparing for a photoshoot or wedding day, their guidance is refreshingly simple.

“Be present and enjoy the day,” they say. “Choose outfits and details that feel like you — not what you think the camera expects.”

Time, trust, and calm make all the difference.

“When you’re relaxed and connected, the images become natural and honest. We’ll guide you when needed — that’s our role.”

Destination Weddings and a Return Home

In 2025, Guedes Photographers officially began documenting destination weddings — a chapter that feels deeply aligned with their story.

“Being in a new place heightens everything,” they explain. “The light, the colors, the way you observe moments. It keeps us inspired.”

One destination holds particular meaning.

“We recently photographed a wedding in our home country, Portugal. It was special on so many levels.”

From historic towns to the coastline, Portugal’s understated beauty resonates with their aesthetic.

Weddings there feel natural and heartfelt. It’s definitely a favorite — not only because it’s home, but because it has a way of making every celebration feel intimate and unique.

Guedes Photographers Today

With a calm presence, a shared vision, and an instinct for real emotion, Fabi and Miguel Guedes continue to build a body of work defined not by trends, but by feeling.

Their photography doesn’t ask couples to perform — it invites them to simply be. And in that space, the most meaningful stories unfold.
