Carlos and Katerina Dos Santos, the creative force behind CK Creation (soon to be rebranded as The Santos Weddings), are more than just photographers. They're storytellers, adventurers, and above all, passionate lovers of life and each other. Their journey into wedding photography is as unique as their approach to capturing love stories.
"We started travel photography while exploring the world for 9 years, immortalizing our adventures and the stories of those we met along the way," Katerina reminisces. "As lovers of stories with emotion and real people, we decided to create CK Creations to capture real and passionate moments." This extensive period of global exploration honed their skills in capturing authentic moments and connecting with people from all walks of life.
The Santos team doesn't just show up on the wedding day and start shooting. Their process is far more involved and personal. "Before the wedding couple chooses us, we have a video call where we want to find out exactly what the wedding couple's needs are," Carlos explains. " Only then can we know exactly what the wedding couple wants.” Katerina adds, "After the wedding couple has chosen us, we have several calls where we discuss every detail of the wedding. Sometimes we are also a bit like a wedding planner and support the couple where possible and give valuable tips."
When asked about their style, both Carlos and Katerina light up. "THE ART OF SIMPLICITY - authentic, elegant, modern, classy & chic," Katerina says proudly. "Storytelling is at the heart of what we do, focusing on authenticity, big moments and small details."
Carlos nods in agreement, “We believe that every wedding story deserves to be immortalized, and the only way to do that is to document yourselves."
CK Creation is well-equipped to capture every angle of a wedding day. "We are SONY LOVERS," Carlos grins. "Photo: Sony Alpha 7 III & Sony Alpha 7 IV Film: Sony Alpha 7 s III Drone: DJI Mavic Mini 4 pro & DJI Mavic 3 pro."
But it's not just about the equipment. Katerina emphasizes, "We edit all images and present them in the best possible light. We make sure that the pictures look super natural and also pay attention to the backgrounds to see if there is anything disturbing. Every picture is edited with passion and we take our time."
For Carlos and Katerina, photography is more than just a job. It's a way to touch people's lives. "Telling stories. Freezing moments for eternity - that's what it's all about. It's about people and LOVE. This contact with people is indescribable - every wedding is unique and touches us again and again and that makes us super happy," they say. "What is always very exciting for us is when the wedding couple receive the pictures and always give us positive feedback at the end, which is the perfect conclusion for us when our work is complete."
CK Creation is not confined by geography. They're willing to travel anywhere to capture special moments. "All destinations are our Favorites. But Portugal and Italy is on our Top," Carlos confirms. Katerina adds, "We love to travel and we will go anywhere to capture special moments."
Despite their popularity, CK Creation is committed to maintaining the quality of their work. "No more than 20 would be possible, but we prefer to take the time for our wedding couple," the duo explains.
As they look to the future, Carlos and Katerina are excited about their upcoming rebranding. "We will soon have a new name we will change from CK Creation to The Santos Weddings," they reveal. It's a reflection of their growth, both as photographers and as a married couple. No matter what they call themselves, their mission remains the same: to capture real, passionate moments and tell love stories that will last a lifetime.
In an industry often focused on perfection and poses, Carlos and Katerina Dos Santos stand out by embracing authenticity and emotion. They're not just capturing images; they're preserving feelings, moments, and memories that will be cherished for generations to come.
