Kseniya Palchik’s journey into wedding photography is one steeped in history, creativity, and a deep connection to the art of storytelling. A Milan-based professional photographer, Kseniya’s passion for photography began as a child, nurtured by her grandfather and uncle, both photographers. Despite initially pursuing a career in economics, she soon realized that her true calling lay in capturing the raw beauty and emotion of life's most precious moments. Today, her work is a fusion of timeless elegance and heartfelt storytelling that continues to enchant couples worldwide.
Photography wasn’t always Kseniya’s first career choice. In fact, she initially pursued a degree in economics and worked as an economist for five years. “Photography has been a part of my life since childhood, thanks to my grandfather and uncle, who were both photographers. I spent countless hours in their darkrooms, fascinated by the process of developing images. Despite earning a degree in economics and working as an economist for five years, I always felt drawn to the creative world. Eventually, I realized that my true passion was photography, and I made the decision to fully dedicate my career to capturing beautiful moments and telling stories through my lens.”
Her transition from economics to photography wasn’t abrupt, but rather a natural evolution, inspired by her childhood experiences in her family's darkrooms.
Kseniya’s photography style is a reflection of her love for capturing genuine moments and her commitment to authenticity. Her work blends natural light, a documentary-style approach, and an innate attention to detail. “I focus on capturing genuine, candid moments that reflect the unique emotions of each couple’s wedding day,” she explains. “My approach combines elegance with a documentary style, using natural light and attention to detail to create images that feel authentic and intimate. I aim to tell a love story through a series of beautiful, organic images that preserve the memories of the day in an artistic yet heartfelt way.”
Her process is simple yet profound: focus on the emotion, the connection between the couple, and the beauty in the fleeting moments.
As a seasoned professional, Kseniya has developed a workflow that combines the precision of digital photography with the timelessness of film. “I use professional Canon cameras and a wide range of lenses to ensure I can capture every detail of a wedding, from intimate portraits to sweeping landscapes,” she says. “In addition to digital gear, I also incorporate various film cameras into my workflow to add a unique, timeless touch to some of the images.”
Whether she’s capturing intimate portraits or wide, sweeping landscapes, Kseniya ensures that every shot is filled with meaning. She’s also highly selective in her post-processing, preferring to keep things natural. “For post-processing, I like to keep things natural and true to the moment. I usually adjust exposure, contrast, and colors to bring out the best in the image while keeping it soft and natural. I also do light skin retouching to make everything look polished but still real,” Kseniya explains.
For Kseniya, the beauty of wedding photography lies in the authenticity of each moment. “What I love most about being a photographer is capturing real moments and emotions. It’s amazing to tell each couple's unique story through my photos. Every wedding is different, and I enjoy the excitement and connection I see throughout the day,” she says. “ I also appreciate the creativity involved—playing with light and angles to create beautiful images. Knowing that I’m creating art that people will cherish for years is incredibly fulfilling for me.”
No two weddings are alike, and Kseniya understands that every couple has unique needs and desires for their big day. “ I am happy to work with couples to create custom packages that fit their specific needs. Every wedding is unique, and I understand that each couple may have different requirements for coverage, locations, or special moments they want to focus on,” she says.
Although Kseniya is based in Milan, her work often takes her across Italy and to stunning international destinations. “Since I live in Italy, I regularly shoot weddings throughout the entire country. However, I’m always excited to travel for destination weddings in France, Spain, or other countries. Two of the most memorable places I’ve photographed are Santorini and Cappadocia. Each location offers its own beauty and charm. Whether it’s the scenic views of Italy or an exotic destination abroad, I’m always open to new experiences!”
Her passion for travel and photography has given her the opportunity to capture love stories in some of the world’s most breathtaking locations.
When asked what she loves most about being a wedding photographer, Kseniya is quick to answer: “I approach working with clients by first getting to know them and understanding their vision for their wedding. I like to have open and honest conversations to discuss their preferences, style, and any specific moments they want to capture. During the planning process, I offer guidance and suggestions to help them feel comfortable. On the wedding day, I create a relaxed atmosphere, encouraging natural interactions, which allows me to capture genuine emotions and beautiful moments that align with their desired outcome.”
